The lobby is gorgeous, but the luxury stops there. The rooms are sadly in need of updating: peeling wallpaper, chipped paint, scruff marks on the wall. And they are NYC small. We booked on Hotels.com with buffet breakfast so no need to go hungry.Breakfast was excellent mainly due to the friendliness of Fernando, Julio and above all Lino. What a joy .The concierge Scott was very helpful as well as Richmond who is the consummate professional. The cleaning staff were wonderfulI and exceptionally friendly. Please spare them a […] few dollars as they are really the ones doing the hard work. I wish I could say the same for some of the front desk staff though. I called front desk to query a charge on my credit card. Some rude uncouth woman at reception answered the phone and bluntly told me that no charge was made so "what do you want me to do?" I complained to the manager Alvin to about her rudeness , who apologized but no feedback or followup later on. This incident really spoilt my stay.The room it self was comfortable but this is definitely not a family hotel. Apart from the impressive lobby there is not much else for families so if you have any children, skip this hotel. The Internet is ridiculously expensive. I had to pay $18 for 20 minutes of Internet and a few pages. The only service you will get is what you willing to pay for, and then ... through your nose. Lots of street noise in the rooms. Overseas calls $20 for first minute and $8dollars for every minute after that!!! How crazy is that? If you a business person with tons of money, this might be a good choice. For anybody else,NO. The Barclay is very well located and appears to be well maintained for an older hotel. Our room was quite small, but comfortable and reasonably quiet. The East side - where the Barclay is located - is a far better place to be than the Times Square area when visiting NYC. "Not what I asked for"
I asked and paid extra for two full beds because I was traveling with my daughter. At check in time there were no rooms available with two full beds so we left and came back an hour later. There were still no rooms available except with one king size bed. We ended up taking that room but we were still charged the higher rate. Plus, the toilet in our […] room didn't work correctly. It is very difficult sometimes to find a good balance between price, comfort, and location in New York City but I did with this hotel. Perfect location and great price for a four star hotel. "WE LOVED IT!!!"
We are hotel snobs and our one bedroom suite was just perfect...including great views on the 14th floor and the hotel service was super! Even the organic Cabernet at $20 a glass was special. Close to Grand Central Station for subway access...and truly The Intercon Barclay was a winner for me and my family this past week.Patiesa Hotels.com viesa atsauksme

"Midtown east - easy access"
Had a great stay! Great location. Close to subway and grand central connector. Loved being in a suite since we had 2 kids along. Easy walk to all we needed - ess-a-bagel, 30 Rock, etc... Would stay there again!Patiesa Hotels.com viesa atsauksme

"Beautiful Hotel"
The service was fantastic. Our room wasn't ready when we checked in but we were given complimentary drinks in the bar while we waited. The housekeeping staff were very helpful with anything we needed. I always stay here for business trips, so it made sense to stay here for a quasi work/vacation trip with the family. It's frankly not that much more than places like the Red Roof Inn (stayed here too, $50 less) but its nice, roomy, clean, and your fellow guests tend to be a little cleaner. "awesome location to mid town!"
We really enjoyed our stay. Very close to everything we wanted to see. Shopping, times square, St Patricks etc. Excellent door men!!! Front end staff and bell persons not quite as friendly. But would (and have) recommended the hotel to many people.Patiesa Hotels.com viesa atsauksme
