The Omni is conveniently located to Yale. As a Yalie I appreciate this, I've stayed at the Omni a few times in the last decade, but this is my first review. They have spent money making the communal areas look as nice as possible, but the rooms (and I have thought this for some time now) are small, show signs of wear (a lot of repainting & lipstick-type […] fixes to seriously aging rooms that leave you with the impression that you are staying at some run-down La Quinta Inn in the middle of Arizona), and the total lack of convenience (if you want water you have to drink the $6 bottle in the room which is ridiculous--maybe if it were Fiji or some luxurious brand, but it is generic ; also, there is no fridge in the room unless you count the min-bar, no complimentary wi-fi, insanely miniscule business center, etc.). I would have stayed elsewhere, but my preferred hotel was booked during my dates. The Omni continues to be ridiculously overpriced and comfortless with no small number of very fancily-dressed, black-tie people prancing around the place adding to its at-first-glance allure; not sure why they (many are friends of mine) continue to stay there when there are now so many luxurious, trendy places to stay near Yale. Service was very good with attentive hospitality, guest relations, bell hops, etc. This was my second stay at this Omni and do appreciate the location. Cleanliness is a big issue with me and this hotel lacks it. We like this hotel very much and always stay there when we are in New Haven. But there are definite issues with the parking garage. It is an automated system which often requires human intervention. The hotel is very nice and clean. However the beds were not confortable. Since the hotel is on a main street, it was very noisy at night. We could hear people partying on the street eventhough we were in the 10th floor.

Our room was very warm. We turned the thermostat to the off position however it was still to warm. They brought us a fan and opened the window. The staff was extremely helpful, especially the concierge.

First, they didn't give me the Deluxe King Room I reserved. Second, the rooms were not ready on time. My son couldn't get into his room until nearly 5 PM. Third, the heating system didn't work. There aren't a lot of full service options in downtown new haven. I recommend folks check out the new haven hotel over the Omni. The Omni has a great 19th floor restaurant and bar, accessible parking, and good service. Very professional. Location is good, walkable around new haven. The beds are way past their prime. The first night I was supposed to have a king bed and there were none available. I had to hold the toilet seat as it would not stay up. The bed felt slanted.

Stayed one night with my wife. Enjoyed the restaurant at the top floor. Service was great. Beds were firm but not quite on a par with other 4-star hotels like the Trumbull Marriot. All in all, we thought it was a nice room and hotel but priced a bit high. Would have been perfect at $40 less and a good deal at lower.

My only issue is that it's an older hotel with small rooms. Otherwise, the hotel is convenient to Yale and in an amenity rich area. The coockies and milk in the evening was a nice touch and the views from the 19th floor lounge worked well for the kids.

We have stayed at the Omni in the past. It's a great place to stay within walking distance to bars and restaurants. Our only complain is that the whole hotel was extremely hot. We tried to start the air conditioner and couldn't. We turned the heat off but the room remained uncomfortably hot.

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at the Omni. Every time we came back to our room it was like coming home, but better! Everything was in order and we would always come back to fresh towels and a made bed. And speaking of the bed, it was so comfy I could sleep all day if I could! Normally I don't like using hotel shampoo, conditioner, etc. But all the products in the bathroom were amazing! The location is very convenient since its right in the heart of New Haven, and if you don't plan on dining in, there are a bunch of equally amazing restaurants in the area. Lastly the staff was so friendly and helpful from the time we got out of the car to the time we checked out. We stayed at the New haven Omni over Thanksgiving since our daughter could not get home because of work. The hotel has a very warm and comfortable decor which made it seem less impersonal than many hotels. Can't say anything about the bar and the restaurant--the services were limited because of the holiday--but the area has everything from a Starbuck's […] around the corner to a movie theater across the street. The hotel is located in a busy area. Being a college town and having many bars, restaurants etc around made the area less than peaceful. We were awoken by what sounded like a large crowd milling around. When I looked out our hotel window there were 6 or more police cars with their lights flashing at the intersection below. There were groups of people […] milling around and talking loudly. There was smoke coming from what turned out to be steam from the air vents and my immediate reaction was that the hotel was on fire. Turns out that the police show up on weekends to disperse the crowds leaving the bars and milling around the streets. The heating system was dreadful and the room remained a sweat box our entire stay (hence the reason we had our window vents open and were then disturbed by the noise). Not much sleep to be had on our two night stay. I did speak to someone at the front desk upon our leaving and as we had pre paid for our room we were given brunch and our parking fee ($46 for two nights with tax) was waived. The location could not be better for parents of Freshmen at Yale who live on Old Campus. My son could see the hotel from his window and we could just park the car (valet-unlimited in and out) and be free to focus of spending time with him. You get what you would expect for the price, but it's but one of many faceless overpriced hotels in the US. Compared to Europe, China, and probably anywhere else, there is a dire lack of small clean budget hotels in central locations reachable by public transport in this country (if there is public transport at all) making travel an overly expensive […] experience only affordable by the rich and by big companies. Extremely convenient and comfortable, bed, mattress and linens were of superior quality, "Spa" bathrobe was perfect to wear after a good hot shower..I stayed there for a family wedding in New Haven, family and friends enjoyed the view and the buffet from the Davenport Restaurant on Sunday morning :)
