Room clean well decorated. Felt very comfortable. Only complaint was hair dryer only worked on high. Other than that it was great.

Had a great stay! Nice and clean. Close to everything downtown and had no problems with anything at hotel. Not huge rooms but you must consider the age of hotel and how well it has been maintained. Staff was very nice.

This is a lovely old hotel. It was close to everything we wanted. The staff was very helpful. We would stay there again.

Very nice older hotel. They upgraded us at registration to a king suite from a standard queen room. All staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to others. Would stay there again. Good value for price paid.

The Canterbury is our 'go to' place for Indianapolis getaways. The hotel is on the Historic Register and is an absolute classic. The service is superb and it is next door to two great restauants including the famous St Elmo's. I have traveled extensively and this is my favorite hotel for the money in the US .

This hotel is very cute and artistic. Not your typical chain hotel. It is close to many restaurants and the train station. I was there for business so I am not sure about the proximity to site seeing options. The restaurant was reasonably priced and the bell staff was very helpful. I hesitated to book my employer at the Canterbury since some reviews were not very positive, but the convenience and price won me over. My employer raved about her room (she even took pictures to show her husband), the service and location. I would not hesitate to book again.

The hotel was very nice. My room was upgraded to a suite when i got there. Room service was slow. Took an hour to get ice and a diet coke after two calls. Also had to pay an extra half day of parking even though I was there for a conference. A little accomodation could have been shown there. All in all I loved the hotel and would stay there again. Everything thing about the hotel was great, except there were no ice machines. I asked the front desk and they said I had to ask at the bar. Not a deal breaker, but kinda odd.

They have 2 elevators, both which only fit 2 adults and 2 suitcases comfortably. You end up waiting 10 minutes to go up to your room, and then another 10 minutes to ge down from your room because there generally isn't enough room for you to get on the elevator...forcing you to wait and catch another. Only stayed one night...glad i didn't have to deal […] with it any longer. PS - we started taking the stairs, but they smell terrible and they are divided like 8 steps at a time, then a landing, then 8 more steps so it's like going down a fire escape. Uzziniet vairāk

Old elegance, quaint rooms, wonderful service, restaurant with a contemporary menu, right in the middle of downtown. Would go back in a heart beat!

I love this hotel. Usually it is out of my price range but I am frequently in Iindianapolis and when they have a good rate, I grab it.

I got this room for my Mom, because we couldn't find a room where my hubby and I stayed for College women's basketball. We wanted to get her a cozy comfy room, but it was a little too small and outdated. But had a big flat TV and the right in the center of the downtown shopping area (though Indy downtown is really small). Bed mattress was not as comfy […] as it looked either, and the bathroom was really tiny. No problem for two nights, but expensive compared to what room had to offer. We were coming from the Chicago, and it was very easy to find. Our stay was delightful! Close to everything. Great restaurants in the area, but need reservations, St. Elmo's and MO's. We will certainly be back.

This is the second time we stayed at the Canterbury. The first time we had a pretty nice room. It was a junior suite with a nice view. The bathroom was terrible though. Very dated and old. We came back to Indy and tried the hotel again, this time the room was AWFUL! The room was so small and cramped. No closet, dresser, just a small armoir that hardly […] fit by the bed. I almost ran into it while getting out of bed. Bathrooms are TERRIBLE! it seems like they tried to redecorate and update bedroom areas but left bathroom in the 1950's! They even have old, manilla phones on the walls in the bathroom! The worst part was the view! When I opened the drapes it looked like I was in a prison! 4 walls all around me were brick! No street view, nothing! Just a view of 4 brick walls/buildings and tubing running along the buildings. They would be better off closing off the windows completely and decorating with art! We had to call room service to bring us the correct remote control for our television. We had an LG TV and a Phillips remote (which didn't work). Wouldn't go back.... and I wouldn't recommend it! Wow, what a hotel! This hotel by far exceeded our expectations! Very beautiful, comfortable rooms that were very clean (and I am way picky when it comes to that!), the staff was so nice, especially the door men (Big John we loved!). Pros: Great location. The Canterbury is attached to Circle Center Mall, Lucas Oil Stadium, and the Convention Center by the skywalk. The hotel was very clean. The staff were helpful and courteous. Would I stay here again? For the convenience, yes. However, I am sure there are much larger rooms with more modern amenities that offer a better bargain. Public rooms are excellent, the restaurant is deservedly popular. The location is good. The bedrooms are small as are the beds by US standards, the bathroom was a little tired but the shower was still good.

I could not get my key to work, so I went to the front desk to replace it. The second key failed so I net back a third time. That key failed as well. Finally they sent a technician to check it out. The system did not recognize a key. The staff moved me to a new room. It took and hour or so to get a technician there and to figure out the problem which […] could not be repaired. He did get the door open and I was able to get my things. It would have been nice if the front desk staff had listened when I told them there were no lights on the door when I used my keys. Normally if the key is simply deactivated you get the red light. No light, should have warranted calling the technician immediately instead of after three trips down to the front desk. I think this should be a 3-star. It has the charm of an older, classic hotel, but the rooms have not been updated in a really long time. Horrible bed.

Great place to stay, but skip the restaurant!!!

Great location, friendly service. Very helpful with parking. Hotel is old but well kept which provided for neat atmosphere. Great location to all the downtown bars and resturants.

I had read the mixed reviews but decided to go ahead and book a room as it is the only hotel I found in Indianapolis that seemed to have any charm. It is a charming hotel, but the service was very disappointing. The bell men were helpful when I called for directions, but nobody even opened the door for us when we arrived. The concierge /manager person […] who seemed to be in charge talked to others, but ignored us and never inquired anything about our experience. The staff in the restaurant bar were very nice. It was kind of cute, but not "polished". The desk didn't even greet us when we approached. The complaints we have could easily be addressed. Although not plush, we really liked the rooms. It was definitely worth it to book a corner room for which I had made a special request due to reading the other reviews. The bathroom was clean and practical, but definitely not modern or updated. I will go back to this hotel every chance I get. The staff were very proactive in anticipating our needs. The hotel is immaculate and emantes small luxury. Having breakfast in the restaurant I recognized the owner. I enjoyed my quick conversation with him. The price is very reasonable. Great spot for a quick bite across from the street.

Hotel is beautiful just needs to update to give more lighting in bathrooms and fix old wallpaper that is falling. Other than that, location is awesome and room was very comfortable and reasonable.

This is a very nice hotel. All staff were very polite. Rooms were clean and the location was perfect. It is right in the middle of downtown. Walking distance from restaurants and bars.

Great hotel,, great location.

My wife and I had a very nice experience at this hotel. The atmosphere and decorations for the holidays were perfect. The staff was very accommodating also. The proximity to things to do in downtown was right on. The only negative was the bed, it wasn't very comfortable. Overall, I would stay again, but would hope for new mattresses.

My boyfriend and I stayed here on New Years Eve 2011, and since most of the surrounding locations were closed for the evening, we just hung out downstairs in the lobby area, which is more comfortable and enchanting than it sounds, with a chandelier and piano in one room and a cozy furnished room off of the check-in desk that I can only describe as being […] like a den. The manager on duty that night was wonderfully accommodating and gracious. He suggested we go to the lounge for the countdown to midnight, and it was just as nice and homey as the rest of the hotel. I enjoyed my time at the hotel. The staff was professional, courteous; the hotel was clean and had very much an at-home feeling. The pianist in the lobby was outstanding. My meal at the restaurant was delicious. Overall, a great experience.

Love this hotel. I've stayed their before and I'll stay there again. Pure class.
