"Perfect - as always"
The Fairmont is 5-star and it's rightfully so. I stay at hotels from 1 star to 5 and Fairmont is consistently a great experience. The Fairmonty Olympic is special because it is a historic hotel and it's amenities are fantastic. The fitness facility and pool (no additional fee btw) is outstanding. The staff is spot-on. The location is near everything […] - about 5 blocks from Pike Place Market (if that' s your thing). It's 1 block from the train (if Pike Place is not your thing) so I was able to get everywhere quickly. Starbucks is 1 block away. Lots of retail, theatre and restaurants in the area. It does get quiet on weekends because it's in the financial district. I hate a suite this time and it was just very nice. Fairmont remains a favorite "splurge" when I'm travelling. "Great hotel, great location, great stay!"
Loved this hotel from the moment we pulled up to the front door. The bell-people were very welcoming and great to deal with. The front desk was friendly and efficient. I was able to get last minute appointments in the spa. The location is within walking distance to Pike's Place Market and to the monorail to take to the Seattle Center. The bed was comfortable […] and warm and the rooms were very clean and very well maintained. Any hotel that provides shower gel instead of bar soap gets points in my book! My only complaints would be that the windows seem to let a lot of sound from the streets in and that our house keeper was maybe a little too liberal with "cleaning" or arranging our personal belongings in both our room and on the bathroom counter but these issues were very small compared to positives of this place. Quite possibly one of the best hotels we ever stayed in. I highly recommend this establishment if visiting the downtown Seattle area. It is clear the Olympic prides itself on customer service. The desk greeted us with a warm reception, in room dining was quick and tasty, and the added service of their "shuttle" (which took us to the Space Needle and […] again picked us up) was the icing on the cake (a sweet BMW!). I went to iron my shirt and the metal came through the ironing pad and left a marks on my nice shirt. So I had to use a towel from my bathroom to provide a thicker pad. We stayed at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel for 2 nights last week. The hotel is very nice, and in a good location. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The only concern we had was regarding the shower. For a nice hotel, the bathroom is pretty basic, with a shower over a tub. We also had no hot water in either the shower or basin. I informed […] the front desk and they sent an engineer to look at the problem. We never heard any more about it, but the shower water temp didn't really improve too much. Since we were only staying 2 nights we didn't worry too much about it. I will say though that for the price of the hotel, it would have been nice to have a working shower. Very well located walking distance to major attractions. Nice pool area which is a relaxing area to rest. Good French bakery for breakfast on ground floor. Staff friendly and helpful. "Nice But Not Great"
Check-in was underwhelming with an indifferent front desk clerk who assigned us a room next to the elevators when I was told an hour earlier the hotel had "plenty" of the small suites we reserved available thus the elevator room assignment was the front desk clerks choice not a necessity. Upon checking into our room we noticed there was only one wine […] glass (two of all other glasses) so we called and ordered another wine glass and some ice. An hour later we finally got another glass and some ice. Later ordered room service and it was just ok. The t.v. reception was terrible like the wire was bad with lots of snowy static. "Heating/AC needs to be upgraded."
The staff was superb. However, the heating and air conditioning system is certainly showing its age. I had to have maintenance come to my room to TURN ON the heating (in January). It had to be done by removing the front panel of the regulator. While the maintenance person was fixing my unit he received service calls on behalf of other guests who were […] experience the complete opposite condition.
