Dearborn Inn, A Marriott Hotel — Dearborn

Right up the road from the Henry Ford Museum, which is really cool. We were greeted at the front door by a single valet who declared -before any sort of welcome or greeting - that valet service costs $7. He was there for wedding guests, and when he found out we were actual guests there to stay the night he recanted the abrupt offer and left us to fend […] for ourselves. We went in to the beautiful lobby where wedding photos were being taken, but no sign of hotel staff; we awkwardly made our way through the wedding party to find the "front" desk that was no where near the front, nor was there any signage offering directions. When I gave my credit card for incidentals the young man behind the counter quickly made a quiet phone call making me feel like my card had been flagged or something, then slowly handed it back without explanation... This hotel is historic and pretty, but very large and for the amount of money we paid for the room I would have expected that we wouldn't have to schlep all our luggage to our room without assistance- no bell hops or luggage carriers. We had to park around back where there are other entrances, but because of that it feels more like a motel than a hotel. The restaurants have good menus- one is very expensive (entrees up to $40) and the tavern is only moderately pricey - not too bad... our waitress was pretty good, except she got my husband's drink order wrong 3 times, and when I told her my daughter is wheat-free, dairy-free she botched the request for the chef to use olive oil instead of butter to saute the vegetables that were to come with her meal. At first the plate came without any vegetables, so when I asked for some cherry tomatoes for her (meaning raw) they came out sauteed. I did not specify that I wanted them raw, but they came out sauteed in butter, which I assumed had been oil ... until my daughter was sick all night and 2 days following, just because some saute cook couldn't get the order right. What a great surprise when we checked in. Beautiful rooms and common areas. Great breakfast buffet as well. There are desks in the lobby that are perfect for working — our daughter was preparing her college applications. we were 4 and had a room with 2 double beds and a rollaway. Very comfortable. Special shout out for Paula, one of the workers in […] Edison's (restaurant) — excellent service, extremely friendly. Made breakfast that much better. Thanks Uzziniet vairāk

I am a Ford fan, and this hotel is one of my favorites in the world, due to its' history as a hotel started by Henry Ford for travelers using his airport across the street, which is now the Ford Dearborn Proving Grounds. The portrait of Henry Ford over the fireplace in the lobby, is heartwarming for us Ford fans, and just adds to the homelike quality […] of this hotel. Marriott keeps the hotel in fine condition, and it has always been a magical place for me. I started staying at the Dearborn Inn in 1978, and try to stay here each time I am in Dearborn. Had an amazing stay at the hotel for the fireworks. Beautiful and well maintained.

Simply outstanding in every regard. We had wonderful accomodations and the staff were great.

It was a nice stay. I will be coming to the Detroit area once a month. It's nice to have a hotel like the Dearborn Inn to stay at. I was hoping to stay at the main hotel, but I guess it was full. I would have liked my bill when I checked out, for my expense account. I don't know why I have to wait for it.

I did not stay and cancelled my reservation. The room was not what I reserved. Water stains on the ceiling and was very small. The sheets did not fit the bed. Reserved a king. hotel is one classy place. steeped in ford history, conveneint location to greenfield village and the ford museum. would definilty stay there again

The main hotel building is in excelllent condition - very grand -- full of automotive and aviation history. My room very clean and comfortable - as were the public spaces in this facility. If you're interested in swank modern hotel with all of the accommodations that such facilities afford , this probably isn't the place for you. That said, however, […] the Dearborn Inn is very convenient to The Henry Ford / Greenfield Village - and its history is intwined with both Ford and the Ford Muesum complex (Including Fairlane Mansion) The lawn and pool facility are first rate -- and the hotel staff was very friendly. The downsides: - Generally out of the way for other sites. (Dearborn isn't exactly the center of the Universe in the Detroit area....) - Although competent, the breakfast buffet is a bit overpriced -- adding a little more variety would probably fix this perception. - Marriott needs to ditch their "pay-for-wireless access policy -- it was quite annoying having to shell out $14 for telephone and wireless access. - Some of the other buildings on the property (McGuffery Hall) need a little paint and TLC. They're really an unfortunate distraction on an otherwise well-kept property. I'd suggest placing them behind nice fencing until such time as their restoration can be completed. This hotel is practically a destination in itself, with lots of history and old photos of the Ford family. Very clean and fun place to stay.

This hotel itself was very beautiful. The furnishings were also very nice. I will go back to it again and again. It is nice to know there is a place t go very close to my home that makes me feel like I am on vacation without having to do the traveling. Thanks
