Hilton Southampton hotel — Southampton

I took my other half here for a birthday treat and we loved our time there - the only issue was that the hotel was in the middle of nowhere which meant we had to travel by taxi everywhere. Hotel staff were friendly, the hotel was clean and the hotel was in a beautiful location - well worth the visit!

Stayed overnight on Route to the Cruise Terminal. Was a bit Worried about what I would find due to some of the Negative feedback I Read. In my opinion the negative comments are way too harsh and so unfair. Check in was so Quick and Easy. Hotel Staff so Friendly and Helpful. Room spotlessly clean and yes perhaps the Decor is dark wood and traditional […] but the hotel is in a Country setting and Traditional Decor not Ultra Mod. Is part of it's charm not a point of Critique in my View. The only thing I would request as an upgrade would be a memory Foam top on the Bed Mattress as the Bed we had was rather on the firm side otherwise I would like to pass My Thanks onto the Management and Staff for a Very Nice Stay. The hotel to enter is terrible and hard to find. On entrance the reception is always unattended but staff are around fairly quick. It says a lot about a hotel on entrance and I'm afraid I was a little dissappointed. Your staf are a credit to you they are hospitable and polite and extremely helpful to the point that when my husband asked for some flowers […] and candles at the table to celebrate our anniversary the mamanger made a hugh effort to do so. The rooms are very very average and no facilities that I am accustomised to like plates, spoons etc and no fridge which I think is amust for storing milk etc. Very poor quality hotel I'm sorry and no I would not wish to stay there again I'm sorry coming from Australia and travelling the world I have seen the best and the worst. Problem with heating - far too hot in room and corridor Obviously not just an issue for us but as with other hotels the staff make you think you are the first to complain about it. Bar meals good but a bit pricey

All the staff were warm, friendly and very helpful. The waiters at breakfast were maybe too efficient as they whipped our plates away whilst I was still contemplating about having another piece of toast! Our room was pleasantly spacious although the decor was quite old-fashioned - I liked it, though, as one can get fed up of 'themed' or 'boutique' - […] styled hotels. We had a night-cap in the bar and noticed that the furniture was looking rather tired and worn - could do with some new upholstery. Overall, a very pleasant stay and would come again. My wife and I checked in at this hotel for a wedding the following day in Christchurch. We didn't stay in Christchurch as rooms were limited and therefore saw Southampton as a good stop off point en-route. The name Hilton in itself filled us with great expectations from the moment we began our journey to the hotel. Upon arrival we arrived at a very […] nicely presented reception area, and very courteous and polite staff. The checking in process was seemless, We were definately made to feel like we had arrived at a Hilton when we were initially greeted by the staff. The great dissapointment began when we walked into the room. The decor was really outdated, mahogany furniture, creaky cupboards, and a bed that looked like it had been purchased second hand in 1959. It was barely bigger than the one we had back at home, not the great queen sized plus you normally see in a hotel room. Upon doing the mattress test (that's just a quick bounce....lol), we could tell that the matress was almost past it. The TV set was for the size of the room, was too small. Attempted to power it on, no response from the remote, the battery cover was held together with sellotape. My wife decided to go for a shower, only to find that the hot water was not even luke warm. We straight away called reception, and once more the staff themselves prooved fantastic, sent somebody up, and decided to relocate us. Kept our fingers crossed that another room would be better, unfortunately that was not to be. The same decor, the same small TV, and the same completely past it, bed and mattress, this time we did have hot water though. Whilst the wife took a shower I thought I'd put the TV on, I was quite franlky dissapointed by the lack of channels available on the TV, so I thought I'd power on the laptop and watch something on BBC iPlayer or something else similar. We stayed two nights in a double delux room and it was lovely. The room was large, clean and very comfortable. However, the pace of service in the restaurant was rather slow. You have to wait rather long to be served. Other than than, not a bad hotel to stay.

Having read some pretty poor reviews i was more than pleaseantly pleased with the hilton. Marie gave me a lovely room which was able to have the window opened really wide t allow a lovely breeze so no air con wasnt a big deal. i slept well, the room was lovely and clean, well equiped. i was there 3 nights but didnt spend much time in the hotel as i […] was sailing but what i did see and experience, i was more than pleasantly pleased. The hotel was very nice in the public areas but the rooms were a bit shabby, (holes in the bathroom wall where a loo roll holder was but not been filled in is one example) The beds were a totally different story they were so uncomfortable and creaked that I couldn't get a good nights sleep..speaking to my friends who went with me they said exactly the […] same.. (i had a twin they had a double). The breakfast was excellent the best breakfast I have had in a hotel with lots of choice and as much or as little as you wanted.. the coffee didn't arrive but apart from that it was lovely breakfast.. The location is a bit difficult to get to as it appears to sit on top of a freeway, not clearly signed and the adjacent freeway makes it very noisy in the rooms. I could not believe that this Hilton had no fridge or airconditioning in the room.. It was hot the night I was there. I had to get the hotel staff to open the window fully as guests are only […] able to open the window about an inch. The room was very stuffy. I also had to sign a form stating that the hotel would take no responsibility if I happened to jump out the window. The food was very good at dinner. I did not eat breakfast at this hotel. This is very well kept hotel, with good facilities, idea for Southampton cruise port. We had a lovely stay, and great room. Would recommend without hesitation. Depending on the direction you are coming from, it is easy to miss the turn-off on the roundabout, so look it up in advance.

Nice hotel, lovely staff & fabulous breakfast! Rooms were a little gloomy but clean & comfortable. Would stay again.

This hotel did not provided free WIFI; other hotels in the area including the Jury's Inn do. Cost of WIFI can add up substantially during an extended stay. The section of the hotel in which I was staying was supposed to be non-smoking and clearly was not monitored. The floor reeked of tobacco....

The only real negative was the very high charges for internet. Stopped at a Mcdonalds for coffee just a few minutes before check in. The wifi there was FREE. The charge at the Hilton was very high per 24 hours. Whilst the hotel is comfortable, I did not sleep well since the twin room contained what seemed like smaller than average single beds. Also, the internet connection was extortionately priced - cheaper to buy a 3G modem. Food OK, but again overpriced. A pizza is a pizza. The staff is very acommodating. Light menu and coffee are available 24 hours a day at reasonable prices. The location is very close to Southampton Univ. and a straight car ride to the waterfront & downtown. Airport is 10 min. away. On the negative side the hotel rooms are a bit tired and the rooms need an upgrade. Single Beds are small, ask for a double. […] Bathrooms are modern and new. great water pressure with plenty of hot water. On arrival at the hotel we were given the key to our room (we had booked a non-smoking double). Upon entering the room it was apparent that the room was a smoking room and it stunk of smoke. We immediately asked reception for a new room and they told us they only had non-smoking twin rooms. Due to my asthma we took the twin room. In the room, some of […] the lights didn't work and the tap leaked. No Air Conditioning. Cups full of cold tea were left in the room after it had been cleaned. the hotel was very nice with fish tanks and free fruit when you check in, room was nice with free tea and coffee and we found 5 pounds under the bed (bonus). the swimming pool was a good size with a crazy bubble thing that was great fun to play with. so overall pricey but well worth it.

Lovely hotel with really helpful staff. Room was very spacious with all expected facilites of a hotel of this type. However, the gym/spa area was a huge let down with a very small space and not very well maintained. Hopefully visitors to the hotel will be to overlook this though as the hotel was great in all other aspects.

The room was clean but really need to be updated however for the price it was okay

Great hotel and only 10 mins from the city centre. Had to eat in the bar because restaurant didnt open till 6.30 and needed an early dinner. Food was very good but greatly overpriced. Fish and chips for £15.00. - Too much!

Hilton nå livnærer seg kun på navnet, man bør vurdere en annen kjede enn Hilton. Renholdet på hotelet, med unntak av rom og resepsjon er utrolig dårlig. Maten der var ikke god, men betjenningen er søte.

Udmærket hotel med højt service nievau i landlige omgivelser. God restaurant. Internet adgang mod betaling. Lille svømmepøl. Afmærkede stier til traveture i naturen. Røgfrit hotel med omsorg for rygere. Kommer gerne igen.
