We had a lovely 3 nights at the end of April in this Hotel. The staff were friendly and our room was very comfy. We did not have the best view, but that's a minor point. If that matters to you, then book a room with a view of the pool/garden or a courtyard view. The breakfast buffet had a good selection and was topped up on a regular basis. We had lunch […] at the pool bar and it was pricey, but fine. We ate out for dinner and can recommend exploring the town to find somewhere to eat. We found a great seafood restaurant called LOS CUATRO POSTES. Great seafood! The spa is worth a visit and we also took advantage of a very well priced pedicure. Loved hotel and will certainly return but it is very difficult to find despite being on a main route through the town. There are no signs at all on the road and the entrance off a side road is not very easy to see. We spent 40 mins driving past the building several times before we eventually found it! Very stressful after a 41/2 hour flight!

Lovely hotel, excellent room but miles away from the reception. Another time ask for Superior garden room on the first floor. That is the only place where there is a large balcony with loungers and umbrellas. Only 4 or 5 rooms in all. But not suitable for sun. Restaurant empty over Easter but impressive chef. Staying at this hotel was great! I could not have picked a better one! Already walking into the lobby you get this Grand Hotel feeling which I absolutely love! Staff were friendly and very helpful even with a few language barriers at sages. Cleanliness and comfort of room were very good. Definitely to recommend!

I was incredibly disappointed with the level of customer service we experienced at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Mencey. From the moment we checked in we found the staff at the front desk unhelpful, unfriendly and unapproachable! On arrival our room smelled like a sewer and when we brought this to the attention of the staff they seemed uninterested and […] confrontational, we were eventually moved to another without so much as an apology. The surroundings of the hotel itself are very nice but unfortunately this was the only element in keeping with it's 5 star rating. After spending over €1000 for our week we found it very disappointing to have an additional charge of €15 each applied every time we wanted to gain access to the indoor heated pool/spa (didn't know about this prior to arrival). On the second day of our stay my wife enquired about booking a treatment but was promptly informed that there was no availability for the entire week - no offer of cancellation etc. All in all, it's a terrible shame as this has the potential to be a wonderful hotel. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood. Close to a little park and some nice shops. Far from tourist attractions and you will need a car to experience the island! Chose this hotel so could visit Cirque du Soleil. Having had experience of many 5* hotels as airline pilot it didn't quite make the grade due to lack of amenities in room normally found. This is not a five star hotel. The service particularly in the bar area was appalling. We were lucky to be served within 20 minutes of sitting down. This happened on every occasion we went to bar at lunchtime. The evening menu was poor. There was only one proper main meal. The rest were starters! Not enough sun beds. This isn't a genuine five star hotel. What it delivers for its very reasonable rates isn't bad but it's not a genuinely top class hotel. Having stayed at other 5 star hotels I would not say this is one of my favourites. Overall however I would not mind greatly if I stayed again. The room was nice with an extremely comfortable bed. A balcony was present with 2 chairs but no table. The bathroom was also pleasant with a powerful shower and separate loo. My disappointments were that we […] needed to remind them to change the bedding. Any glasses or toiletries we used were not replaced until requested or had finished. There was no complimentary tea or coffee. There was only 2-3 English channels - there was news channels only. The hotel did not have free parking for guests. Breakfast was nice and filling. Entire hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and professional .. concierge services were outsanding. Most staff spoke 2 or more languages fluently. Dining in hotel was exceptional. The "degustacion menu" was absolutely delightful. I would recommend this to everyone. It will be my first choice every time I visit Tenerife.

A lovely restored hotel on the outskirts of the city. Parking is virtually impossible unless using the nearby underground car park, which the Hotel makes a charge for. Everything about this hotel exceeded our expectations from the spa to the breakfast buffet. Great bed, gorgeous park across the street, fabulous restaurants within walking distance. . .Our only issue was the seal on the shower wasn't good and we felt like we left an inch of water on the bathroom floor!

I booked this hotel for a long weekend with my husband - we usually stay in B&B type accommodation but I thought the price of this hotel was too good to refuse. Was not disappointed at all. We booked a basic double room, and it was not the "basic" I'm used to! Huge bed, lovely decor, balcony with sea view, very friendly staff (as another review says, […] very little English spoken [this can be said for the whole of Santa Cruz, one reason we chose it], and VERY happy for us to practice our broken Spanish). We couldn't hear the people in the room next door, or even other hotel doors opening / closing down the corridor, and the pool was just lovely too. As far as we could tell there was no work going on at the hotel - everything was finished to such a high standard - would definately recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a bit of a treat during their Tenerife stay. The eatery over the road is lovely and very reasonable (again, a tip from a previous review), but we also found an Italian restaurant (Da Canio) about 5 minutes walk away with the greatest choice I've ever known (82 pasta dishes, 66 meat dishes, 38 pizza choices, plus starters I didn't count the number of!), at a really reasonable price. My room was very comfortable. It took a bit to navigate around the hotel, but easily learned. I did have a problem maintaining a WiFi connection in my room but I think it was my touchpad's issue. Prices for food and beverages are a bit steep but that's expected in a 4 or 5 star hotel.

Very nice place to stay. Really good buffet breakfast. This is a Spanish hotel in a Spanish city - don't expect many of the staff to speak English. They did really appreciate it when we used our clumsy Spanish.

Iberostar was absolutely wonderful. The people there were super friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was very central so we didn't need a car. We walked everywhere and the neighborhood is a nice and a comfortable one to be in. I highly recommend Iberostar. It made our stay in Tenerife that much sweeter.

I stayed at the Mencey with my wife for a week in March 2013, and we loved it there. The room was comfortable (we opted for a room facing the garden, in stead of the street - which is recommended) and fairly quite, although the slamming of doors from neighboring rooms were somewhat disturbing. Decent service and friendly staff, good food in the restaurant, […] quick check in and out, and an over all pleasant experience. The hotel was renovated in 2011, and that shows both on the outside on the inside, especially the common areas. It is also located very conveniently in the center of Santa Cruz, right on the Rambla, yet in a quite residential area, on the corner of the big park. Jeg reiste for førte gang alene uten familien min. Jeg bodde som en filmstjerne. Nydelig sted og omgivelser. Sentralt selv om det ikke lå i hjertet av byen. Har bodd mange flotte steder rundt om i verden (også 5 stjerners), men dette hotellet ligger i toppsjiktet. Neste gang tar jeg med meg mann og barn. Super dejligt hotel. Rent, pænt og nyt. Spa, fitness og udendørs pool. WiFi og køleskab på værelserne. Super god dobbeltseng med kæmpe dobbeltdyne. Morgenmad koster 15 Euro, dyrt men godt! Hotellet ligger ved siden af en dejlig park og 800 meter fra byens primære handelsgade. Vi kommer meget gerne tilbage!
