"close from freeway"
From the pictures of the room it seems much bigger but it's not. The room had a funny smell to it as well as being extra small. For the price you pay you could go to motel 8 and it would be better. Very unhappy with my stay here. Also the toilet and the sink kept getting cloged to where we kept having to wait to go to the bathroom and or wash your hands.This […] place sucked! ! Uzziniet vairāk
"Howard Johnsons - Salinas - Never Again"
Recent night at Howard Johnsons/Salinas. Two rooms for one night & both rooms had problems with door keys upon initial entrance + rooms were ice cold as heaters are off (to conserve energy?). Took over two hours to make room temperature comfortable. Desk staff intimated that we caused problems with room keys (walked to room & inserted keys - our problem?). "Good value"
This is a good low- to -moderate cost hotel that is located near some "iffy" neighborhoods in Salinas. This was not a problem however. The room was comfortable and well appointed but someone had dumped the contents of a pencil sharpener in the sink. The management immediately had that cleaned up and the room was fine. Do not stay here! Hotel has many Hookers in, and out on the 1st floor. Nasty place to stay! Never again!

"Howard Johnson Salinas-Great deal!"
Clean, comfy room for a great price :)
"Fair Rate in a expected location"
Checkin was fast and easy. Room was comfortable and condition of room was fair. Not really dirty but just worn abit. Surrounding area is a bit poor but it is what Salinas has to offer. Location was great as we went to the annual airshow and close enough to Monterrey Bay. I would stay again at the same rate but not much more

"Filthy Hotel"
We needed something close to Monterey and found this hotel in Salinas. It was outrageously priced due to the major events in the area but not much else was available. I don't know how they got a AAA rating! The room was in significant disrepair and absolutely filthy. Never again!
"average hotel"
room is tiny and outdated. No vending/ice machine on second floor, can only get ice on the main floor, sigh~). Elevator only operate during certain hours. Late check-in (after 10pm) can only access through the stairs.

"Dirty dirty hotel...found dirty bra by bed."
The room looked okay upon entering. However, it was filthy. Walls were grimey. Dirt around handles, light switches. Toilet...I have seen cleaner toilets at gas stations. Soda spray all over wall. Sticky gunk on counter and in tub. Tub was visibly dirty. Hair in sink, counters and in tub. Side of tub looked liked it had not ever been wiped down. Found […] a dirty bra by the bed...NOT MINE! Floors gross...they vaccumed like my sons did when they were children...(only where the vaccum sat). Called front desk to complain and ask for a clean room. No answer. Doors to office locked. Very very disappointed. Slept with clothes on fearing that we may get something from the bedding. Didn't leave the room and hotel only because it was after 11 pm when we arrived. Not the best place. Kinda shabby and rundown. The staff was helpful, but the place wasn't the most comfortable. We only stayed one night, so no big deal. But, I wouldn't stay here for more than one night.

The rooms were clean and the bathrooms were in serious need of remodeling. They were as clean as possible, but toilet and shower both needed updating. They had stains that couldn't been cleaned.

Surprised on the room I received compared to Holiday Inn Express at half the price. Great breakfast place right down the street.

"Great Hotel!"
My family stayed 1 night at this hotel but wished it was more. Even though there was no pool the room was big, clean and comfortable. My son enjoyed the jacuzzi bath in the room and having 2 bathroom sinks was handy. We had to drive a few miles for dinner because the city didn't have a lot to offer but the room was great.

room was very spacious. only one coffee cup in the room it was not washed. nice mini fridge. nice cable tv great breakfast and great coffee very quiet. overall stay was very good

Fine if you are looking for a place to sleep. Rooms very small, view of a scattered backyard, breakfast area small and limited. Cook your own waffle was a nice feature. Located in the middle of town for easy access.

Older, worn appearance inside. Fairly clean but furnishings older and used appearing. Breakfast was okay, but limited choices. Personal were helpful and polite. Would not recommend
"Decent hotel with acceptions"
The Hotel itself is unique and a great deal for a one night stay over, however it's overall maintenence could use some major attention. The room was clean, however the TV didnt work, the shower head was dangling from the wall and the bed was not very soft. The continental breakfast offered watered down coffee and juice, even the waffle mix was too runny. […] The surrounding area of this hotel is not the best either. Definitely a party hotel and would not recommend this hotel for a family with children. But again, this was a great deal for a one night stay in Salinas not to pass up. Uzziniet vairāk

"Couldn't ask for more for the price"
I booked 4 nights at this place. I was very satisfied with the room cleanliness and the customer service. I will stay here next year
"Close to Monterey, but affordable"
Stayed here one night to attend an event in Monterey. Close enough (45 min) but not Monterey prices. Not luxury, but comfortable, clean. Decent neighborhood. There was a breakfast included that looked good, but I had other plans.

It was comfortable enough for spending one night, front desk was great, but the entire place is so run down and in such a seedy part of town... there were hookers just up the street from us as we drove in from supper. "Would not stay there again."
The room was small, but I could look past that. The big issues for me were these: The carpet was so dirty it turned my feet black, the bathroom smelled like urine (actually, more like a public mens restroom!) and when I asked for two more pillows and an extra blanket, the clerk said, "we don't give extra pillows, but I'll see if I can find another blanket". […] The hotel did not seem busy at all, there was only one car in the lot besides ours, and they couldn't find an extra pillow and may not have a blanket for my daughter?! That seemed rediculous! "Good value"
This hotel is located within a block or two of downtown/old town Salinas, which actually seems to be a pretty nice place, with restaurants, etc. The hotel location also provides easy access to the Salinas-Monterey highway. The room was comfortable, though very small. Shower had plenty of hot water, although the shower head wasn't great. Fridge, coffee […] pot, microwave, and free wireless seem to come standard, which is nice. Interestingly, the TV did not include HBO or any order-in movies. Service seemed fine, although we didn't really have any requests or special needs. The free morning breakfast was of pretty poor quality, despite low expectation, and the breakfast area was extrememly small...not a big deal if you take food back to your room, as I'm sure most people do. Overall, a good value hotel. I would stay here again, as long as I didn't plan on spending a great deal of time in the hotel room. Uzziniet vairāk
