I was very surprised by this hotel. Not very dramatic on the exterior but the inside is amazing. I had a deluxe king room on the 16th(top) floor. The room was large with a desk, sofa, king bed, and large bathroom. The room was spotless and had one of the most comfortable beds i've ever slept upon. The room was nicely appointed with an enormous television […] and remote controls for the lights. Views were excellent from multiple windows looking South. Nice hotel. Good location. Valet, front desk, and room service staff were great. Someone from housekeeping tried to enter our room fairly early to 'check the minibar'. It didn't make sense to us since the minibar is activated by sensors. Plus it was easily three hours prior to checkout. Other than this hiccup, we were generally satisfied. "Austin wasn't Weird!"
Arranged for SUPERSHUTTLE in advance. Hotel is 15 minutes from the airport. Curbside arrival; no less than two attendants were ever noted at the lobby entrance. Check in took 3 minutes. Room was FABULOUS! Touchpad device at the bedside enabled me to turn all the lights on/off in the room and bathroom as well as to adjust the temperature of the room. […] Took me a bit of time to locate electrical plugs in the room - - they are located on the side of each bedside table cabinet next to the bed. VERY handy but hard to find. Premium toiletries in the bathroom and tons of wonderful, thick/heavy towels. Instant hot water; excellent water pressure. Adjustable showerhead was wonderful. The refrigerator was well stocked with snacks and a variety of beverages both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Room service was very expensive. I only used this out of despiration the first morning. Hotel Restaurant "Stephen F's" was closed because of renovation, however the "Roaring Fork" restaurant and bar has an entrance to their bar area in the lobby of the hotel. Ate lunch and dinner at Roaring Fork - - both meals were excellent. The service was also excellent. Second day ate lunch at "Manuels" restaurant several blocks away and it was also a good value with excellent service and food. Check out took 60 seconds. "A refreshing change"
This was a refreshing change from the Driskill Hotel a block away. There were three elevators next to the check in that were fast and available at all times. (I had to carry my suitcase up a flight of stairs and walk through a bar to get to my elevator at the Driskill.) The room was very large and the bed was extremely comfortable. The lounge on the […] second floor was friendly and I loved it's outside terrace. You could see everything and enjoy the sunshine. Everyone was friendly.
