St. Gregory Luxury Hotel And Suites — Washington

One of the least sound-proof of the many hotels I've stayed in. Recently gave the hotel a 2nd chance after a not-so-great 1st stay. Booked a King Deluxe. Got a room different than what I booked (same happened my 1st stay): much smaller, no fridge (which was listed), a Murphy bed instead of a real bed (which was also NOT king-sized), & one entire wall […] was a "dividing wall" (they turned a larger suite into separate rooms using a divider). This "wall" provided zero sound-proofing. Heard every word of the phone calls next door, even heard the person on the other end of the line! Also, my AC unit was so loud, I had to turn it off to get sleep.. Front desk's solution: free bottled water, Wi-Fi, small snack-size bag of pretzels, & American breakfast in the morning. I got no sleep, so hardly a fair trade. Checked out at noon, then stood waiting in the lobby/sidewalk until 12:34(!) for valet to get my car. Between the front desk/valet, each came up with an excuse why it took so long (they weren't aware I caught them lying). The employees are polite, but grossly lack in customer service skills. I've yet to hear back from management, as I've asked them to contact me. Pros: located close enough to walk to Dupont. Not much in the direct vicinity on weekends, but just a few blocks' walk gets you restaurants/bars. A quick 20/25-min walk gets you to the National Mall. Overall, would I stay here again? Most likely no, unless every other hotel in the area was far out of price range. Uzziniet vairāk

While St. Gregory is aesthetically pleasing it leaves much to be desired in terms of noise isolation. Our rooms were pleasing to the eye but we quickly realized that you could hear other room's conversations - especially when you're in the bathroom (odd but true). At this point I thought "not a huge deal" so you can hear some clear chatter while you're […] in the can, but the worst was yet to come. That night 1:30am I awoke to a party/brawl a few doors down, which I figured would quiet down eventually, so I waited for a while. After a solid hour I called the front desk. The lady that answered seemed somewhat irritated that I even called and sent the security. After security came and told them to quiet down, the noise stopped albeit for a short time. The party goers proceeded to simply talk loud at intermittent intervals for the next hour or so. Long story short, got very little sleep thanks to a well groomed but poorly managed facility. Save your money and find a place with solid walls and a staff that fiercely protects its occupants(i.e. customers) experience. Uzziniet vairāk

I liked it. The staff could be a tad warmer. Restaurant people a little 'dazed' rather than being really attentive about what they offer. I tried getting general info and felt I was not that important to them. There was no wifi without paying for it. These days, paying for wifi in a hotel or a coffee shop/restaurant is reason enough for me not to go […] there or go there again. Only thing I really disliked more than anything was my room had absolutely no view. What I saw out the windows made me want to keep the curtains closed. Other than that, seemed like a decent place to stay for the price. Also loved the location. The bathroom amenities could benefit from including some kind of hand/skin/facial cream - some of us don't carry that. Also, room service is way too expensive and they lack variety. On check-in realised the junior suite I had booked was a little cramped for 3 adults. It was no problem to upgrade, at a reasonable cost to a larger suite which was ideal for a couple travelling with another adult. There are 4 metro stops nearby and Foggy Bottom will take you direct to Ronald Reagan airport for just over $2.00. We enjoyed the walk from […] our hotel to the National Mall, and used the metro to get to Arlington and the Pentagon. We found the close proximity to 4 metro stops meant we could plan our trips to minimise changing lines. Clean, quiet, comfortable room. I stayed in a larger room that had a full fridge, stove, and cooking area which would have been very useful if I had been staying longer, or had had my kids with me. I'd definitely recommend this hotel!

It was very pleasant with my stay at St Christopher, they even had a bottle of Champagne in the fridge which it was offered to me during reservation. Nice, clean and a lot of attention! Very friendly and helpful staff. I was offered the option of a free breakfast in exchange for taking a smaller room. I took the offer and the room I received was plenty big. Breakfast was very good. Only issue was TV remote did not work. Overall nice stay, I would go back without hesitation.

Only there for a day visiting from new York (but from nz) wish we could have stayed longer, clean, homely, warm, classy .... Would highly recommend. And Washington dc rocks!!!!!

Clean, comfortable and well situated, the hotel lived up to expectations. The staff were attentive and ready to help. My only serious complaint is that throughout my two-day stay the wi-fi signal was inadequate for working on-line. Having a suite was a positive experience since our daughter was saying with us for HER daughter's graduation. Ot would have been nice to know about the kitchen and appliances, so we could have stocked the refrigerator with breakfast foods to go with the coffee we were able to make.

Ideal location for me. Very, very nice rooms. Lobby and entrance are nothing fancy so the room was almost a surprise. I'd give it 4 stars.

when you can score a good price, StGregory is more than a fair deal. Parking is convenient but pricey ($41), but if you need a car, and you get a good rate on the hotel itself, its a great package

The hotel itself was very nice - our room was spacious & clean. However, the reservations staff was not very helpful or professional when I called ahead to inquire about parking, which is limited to small vehicles (below 6') & is $35 + tax. The AC unit in our room did not work well, if at all. Walking distance to Dupont Circle Metro.

Very nice stay. The only problem is that the TV did not get the NBC Sports Network, formerly Comcast Sports Net. I missed the overtime period of the Caps game becuase of that.

Nice hotel, great food at the restaraunt within. Rooms were on the small side but nice. Able to walk a mile or so to the White House and other memorials.

I had a mini staycation with a friend and needed a hotel with a reasonable price. Considering the are (the "golden triangle"), I think I got a great deal. Their lounge has awesome specials: $5 cocktails, martinis, and apps all day. I would definitely stop there again when I am in D.C. I didn't need any service, so I can't speak on that. However, I did […] notice some dishes in the hallway for my entire stay (Saturday to Sunday). The hotel is older but not in a creepy / uncomfortable way. The room was VERY clean. Save for the little mix-up at the check-in desk, everything went very well. I really liked how compact my suite was - although I could not find the mugs from which to drink the coffee I made. Either way, I was happy. I really liked my hotel and I intend to stay there next time I am in D.C. It is also very conveniently located near my office.

The Gregory is an old hotel with some of the 'wrinkles' but a lot of compensating charm. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bar is very nice with great prices. The location is good. The service excellent

I had taken the red eye and arrived very early. I was met with the rudest night desk clerk. She explained my options and if I could have I would have booked another hotel. When I returned later in the afternoon, the two guys at the "day" desk were terrific, very accommodating and extremely helpful with transportation etc. All other staff were very helpful […] and courteous. Our King deluxe suite room was huge, and we booked last minute so we got a great deal. It was very clean, comfortable, and quiet. The service was okay, not great, but it certainly didn't get in the way of our stay.

We had an outstanding four night stay at the St Gregory this April. The location is close to everything, the staff was very friendly, and the room was luxurious. The restaurant/lounge made the stay exceptional. This is a luxurious property at a Holiday inn price.

With some reluctance we booked at the St.Gregory instead of one of the larger chains. VERY GLAD we did. As it was Cherry Blossom Festival going on in DC rooms were tight and we thought to give the St. Gregory a chance from the reviews online. The hotel was nice and convenient to Dupont Circle. It is a good 15-20 minute walk to the Mall, but on a nice day isn't that bad at all. The room was a good size and clean. Overall a good hotel.

Hotel is not a $400+ a night hotel. It better be a mid-$100s rate to be a deal, parking is another $42 with tax.
