The Whitney Wyndham Hotel — New Orleans

I was there for 4 nights and I must say that this hotel needs to update and improve their service. On demand did not work in the room and after more than 24 hours and multiple requests, I was told that the service is not available. I know this was a lie because, 1. Remote provided to me was not the right one and 2. The handyman checked in other room […] and he told me that the service was available in other rooms. I can forget unavailability but not the lie told to me. Room service was inadequate and did not replace soaps and conditioner for 4 days!! Towels were old and had holes in them. The hotel was clean and comfortable, but a little dated. There were not any single rooms so we were able to get two bedrooms, but would have been nice to have a bedroom and a sitting room. We didn't stay in the room other than to clean up and sleep. There was a resturant on the 1st floor, but opted to eat other places. They offered valet parking for […] $30 per night allowing you to recieve your vehicle at any time. The lots in the surrounding area were consistantly full, and looked like the signs said $22 with discount, but for a shorter period. The only negative aspect is that several rooms face Paydras Ave., which can get quite noisy. The windows don't seem to have much of noise insulation so you'll hear everything. Other than that, the room was very comfortable.

Close and short walk to local sights, French quarter etc. The hotel looks dated but the rooms are comfortable and acceptable. The running machine in the gym does not work.

I checked in late on a weeknight, unsure where I was supposed to park during check-in because the sign for check-in was next to a no parking sign in the little nook area by the hotel. The person working the front-desk was polite, but not helpful, and check-in was painfully slow. I drive a regular-size truck, and it was $40 to valet. However, the only […] other options were street parking, or an unsecured surface lot a few blocks away at $25. The room was fine, nothing special. Small TV (circa 1994), with no channel listing, and the TV's built-in channel listing had all the channels wrong. Bathroom was better than the room, and was large enough to function well. The wireless internet did not work, but they had an ethernet cable that got me on the internet. I did not eat breakfast at the restaurant based on comments by two other sets of guests. When I was ready to leave, it took over 20 minutes to get my vehicle out of valet at approx. 2pm, and I only got it then after a gentleman who appeared to be upper management came to question me about why I had been standing near the door with my luggage for so long. He apparently lit a fire under the valet staff. I would not stay there again as there were several other hotels in the immediate vicinity. I highly recommend staying at The Whitney Wyndham. The staff couldn't be more friendly. Made us feel so at home. And the bed was amazing! Sooo comfy. We wanted to take it home with us. The location is great too: an easy 5-minute walk to the French Quarter but far enough removed from the madness to be relaxing. The only downside is the very small, poorly-equipped […] gym. If you like working out on vacation, you're not going to like this gym. Small room, old equipment: 1 old bike, 1 old treadmill and 1 old stairmaster. No other compliants aside from that. My fiancee and I stayed at this hotel for three nights in March. The first night, we were roomed in a handicap room off in the corner of the hotel. I was embarassed by the poor quality of the room--especially the shower. Once I realized it was a handicap room (we were not told in advance), I requested a room change, and the next day, we were moved to […] a different room, which was much nicer, more spacious, and had a view. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but we left feeling diappointed for their handicapped guests. Perks: The hotel is in walking distance of Bourbon St, Harah's Casino, Riverwalk, and the Canal St Streetcar. Also their breakfast was excellent--my fiancee is still raving about it. Uzziniet vairāk

Stayed here at the last minute for the NCAA final four. It has a good location. Convenient to most everything. The service was pretty good. The place could use a little update. The room was just ok. Nothing spectacular. Didn't appreciate the $30.00 a day fee for parking the car. The gym is really run down. Overall for the money it was probably not worth […] it. Uzziniet vairāk

I have stayed at this hotel many times for business travel. This stay was disappointing. The lock on my room door needed to be replaced, the valet brought my car but left to get another with the keys in his pocket, the areas around the elevators looked shabby, the employee working the desk seemed unable to prioritize or multti-task and kept guests waiting, […] in general, not the level of service I've come to expect from this establishment. Nicely refurbished rooms in former bank/office building; request room on exterior wall. Staff was very professional, friendly and accomodating. Location with easy access to CBD, Frehcn Quarter, Warehouse District, Superdome, etc. Good value relative to charge for the room.

Pros-great location to walk to French Quarter or hop on street car. felt very safe at night. Room was small, with okay ammenities - hotel is a historic building therefore halls and furnishings are definitely older. Rate was great for New Orleans. Cons-must valet park or park across the street in a public lot. That was okay weekdays but it went up for […] the weekend. travel tip: St Charles street car was great, is close to the hotel & ran frequently. Friendly staff and great location

We visited this hotel for my kids spring break in March of 2012. I stood in line for 20 minutes just to check in. The room was small with an old 20 in television in an armoire. The tray it sat on was broken and wouldn't swivel. Also, the screen would periodically turn to static and we had to turn it off and on to make it start working again. The wallpaper […] was peeling off the walls and the window was frosted so we got no natural light and couldn't see out to see the weather conditions. The location was the only thing we liked. It is very close to the French quarter. We actually left a day earlier than planned and didn't mind paying the early cancellation fee, just to get out. There are soooo many other hotels in that same area to choose from. Spend a little more and stay somewhere else that is nice. I would NEVER stay here again. Uzziniet vairāk

There are 3 Wyndham hotels in New Orleans. This is not the one I thought I was go to stay at. The Whitney- Wyndham is an old bank bldg. With expensive valet parking only and still several blocks from the French Quarter. It is old and needs rehab. Committed to 2 nights - one too long.

We booked a room at the Whitney Wyndham for the convenience and ease of going to the parades and Lundi Gras festivities during the 2012 Mardi Gras season. The location is great. The parade routes are convenient. Lil Dizzy's restaurant is fabulous. The French Quarter is within walking distance. The manager of the Hotel is very accomodating. I stayed at the Whitney during Mardi Gras. Most of the parades go right by the hotel but you are still away from the craziness of the French Quarter. The room was okay but not spectacular - paint was chipping off the wall under one of the windows and the heat never got very warm in my opinion. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

The hotel building was beautiful, the rooms were very nice and comfortable and the staff were friendly. I would like to stay here again if i come to New Orleans, however not during Mardi Gras as they seemed slightly overwhelmed, they made us wear wrist bands for security purposes that were not checked when we came back to the hotel, which seemed rather […] silly. This hotel was close to almost everything but outside the general noise of the French Quarter. Staff friendly and welcoming. Rooms generous in size although furniture minimal.

A lovely old building,repurposed in1999 from a bank to hotel. The location is terrific,near financial district and st Charles st. It has not been upgraded for far too long. However,the dining room has a great breakfast.

Hotel is tired. Coffee Bar was not replenished. Orange extension cord plugged into wall disappears under carpet. Water leaked into our bathroom from the ceiling one night. Parking is $30 per night. Takes 20 minutes advance notice to get car. Brought wrong car once.

The parking situation needs to be improved. A large fee was taken just to park the car and then we were forced to use the valet service. All in all, a very very expensive experience.

The manager went out of his way to be sure we got the type of room we needed, even though we booked through Hotels.com, where your room request is not guaranteed. The room and bath were clean, and the location was very convenient. Highly recommended.

The hotel is an old, but remodeled facility. Has a nice charm. It is comfortable, off the beaten path, so quiet. Easy 20 minute walk to Convention Center and 15 min walk to French Quarter. Would recommend and would stay again.

I went into this stay with an open mind. I wanted something close to the convention center. The hotel is only 10 minutes from the convention center via a walk. The hotel is built in a old bank building, the luggage storage was the bank vault, main desk is the teller window. Food was good, staff was extremely frieindly. Room was clean but a bit on the […] small size. Hotel is showing its wear and tear. Not bad but not the Hilton, Hyatt or Omni, but then again it is not as expensive. I would stay there again keeping in mind that it is not the fancy upscale hotel, but it is defiantly not a hotel 6. Nice place to stay and I recommend it. Uzziniet vairāk

The room was very large with a sitting room. Good location to downtown, French quarter, an up town.

It was a very nice place to stay at. the only complaint was that there was only one vending machine in the entire hotel and it was broken. no room service late at night. make sure you bring your own drink for that late night craving.

We loved this hotel! It was large and all redone in an old bank building. Clean and modern bath and livingroom and bedroom! Would love to stay there again! The restaurant on the property was also great!

I wasn't sure what to make of the Whitney Wyndham prior to staying there for New Years Eve... the reviews seemed to be a mixed bag of "great" to "absolutely horrible." While I was on my way down to the hotel, I called about possibly changing my room to a double bed or a suite and to my surprise one opened up and they upgraded me— no charge— to a suite. my room was not available due to piping issues. wireless internet was not available for nearly 24 hours as they waited for the technicians to come fix it the next day. my bedroom had cracker crumbs from the previous stay. the hotel dining area is in horrendous shape, worse than a diner you would find off the highway. the gym has one treadmill and is […] a 4 x 4. this place was really horrendous. it does not look anything like what is shown on the website. there is no business center. the location is convenient in that it is close to the french quarter and canal st but you can hear the noise from the streets in your room. Stayed here while on Business. The location was absolutely perfect. Close to everything I needed. We did have an incendent with the power in our room but the staff was very quick to respond and relocate me in the hotel, as well as comp brekfast for me the next morning in the resturant. I will be sure to stay here again.

Love the hotel ... do not eat here...

The hotel and location are fine. Parking for our vehicle cost us 40% of the cost of our room before tax. Be prepared if you plan to drive to New Orleans and stay here.

Although the hotel was near to other desired sites, ie, the Superdome, and the Riverwalk, the hotel was over-priced, with limited ammenities. The lobby was outdated, the restaurant was out of menu items. The valet parking was very expensive, and the hotel lacked ample security, ie, key entry doors should be implemented as anyone from the streets could […] walk right in and access the property or guests. Friends had highly recommended we stay in the French Quarter during our NOLA visit, but the combination of rates and availability didn't quite work for us. Thankfully, we found this nearby ... it is literally 3-4 blocks away from Canal St., which is one of the streets bordering the Quarter. for the price, this is an excellent value, generally clean comfortable rooms on poydras. not a lot of frills or extravagance, but for what it is, it works very well.

I got a room on the second floor facing a wall, horrible. No light in it... The hotel is old and needs renovation. The price was OK, and as I just stayed few hours, I'd say the stay was acceptable... But it is an OLD hotel... Don't stay there if you plan to spend few days.. you'll feel depress....
