I expected more from a 4 star spa resort. The location is good, the grounds are beautiful, the spa is onsite with an indoor pool, and there's a nice restaurant on the grounds. However, there were a couple bad things. These are things that I would not care about if I was in a hotel on business - but this was vacation and detracted from my overall experience. […] The bathroom was old with cracking (and poor repair) around the drain in the tub, hard water buildup everywhere and we even got a stained towel. The walls are very thin and we heard every single person who walked down the hallway talking....all night. The pillows were horrible and gave me a neck kink and headache, but the pillow top mattress was nice. The staff seemed hurried and stressed - which was sad for them and not the vibe you want on a relaxing spa weekend. Overall, there are conveniences (I like to stay in the hotel where my spa is so I can wander back to my room and relax), but for the money, I would have to think hard before staying here again. Nice Hotel for architecture, style, grounds and ambiance however the cleaning staff needs a major overhaul/refresher on proper cleanliness. For instance, it was apparent that the rooms were vacuumed but where night stands, tables and dressers were they hadn't seen the vacuum for years! Like wise the bathrooms and showers were given a cursory cleaning. […] The same cleaning habits were apparent around the entire hotel. Slightly shabby round the edges in terms of decor, but staff extremely friendly and helpful and couldn't fault anything. Quiet at night - no banging doors. Spa and gym exceptional and again very friendly staff.

We stayed for two nights and ate in both restaurants.The hotel is very nice, in a conservative, 'stately home' sort of way: our room was quite plain but very comfortable (especially the bed) and the bathroom was surprisingly large too. We had dinner in both restaurants, the Cultra Inn and Mitre, although we missed breakfast. The food was very good […] in both cases, obviously it's a lot more special (and expensive) in Mitre because it's a fine dining place but you'll eat well in either of them. We got a bottle of wine that was off but it was replaced immediately with no discussion; the staff in the restaurants and the hotel were very good. My wife also had a spa treatment and said it was very good, although you should book in advance because they had almost no time slots available. The only negative points I could make are very minor and didn't bother us at all. The Wifi isn't free, although it is in many other (and cheaper) hotels, and genuinely five-star hotels don't let their staff carry trash and supplies through public areas of the building. And good bar staff don't bring you a martini with a cocktail umbrella in it, although that could be a matter of taste :-) All in all it's a very nice place for a weekend away, especially if you plan on being lazy and pampering yourself. Overall stay very satisfactory despite some confusion over booking terms which was quickly resolved. staff very friendly and helpful. Annoyed at expensive WIFI rates which is now free in most hotels.

Hotel is easily located about 20 minutes from Belfast City Airport. A beautiful building with adequate free parking. The staff were always very helpful and willing to please. The view was just beautiful and breathtaking. Lots of well kept grounds for walking round, ideal for children..

We stayed 5 nights, our room was never cleaned adequately, bed was never made up properly and clean sheets not provided, every day things were missed such as towels, loo rolls etc. Some room lights did not work. The carpet was never vacuumed. The room was made up after 4pm every day which was too late. It was only when we complained on the last day […] that things got sorted. I have become used to nice hotels providing wi-fi as a standard amenity. I was disappointed that the Culloden charged for this convenience. The hair dryer in the room did not work, and there was no coffee or tea service in room. The location and setting were stunning, but I was disappointed in the services provided.

Lovely hotel, felt a bit looked down on by older receptionist because I had booked on hotels.com. Sat in bar for a drink and during thunderstorms the ceiling started to leak and very soon it was a lot of water rushing through ceiling. Staff did well to collect it, understandable as it is a very old building & storms were horrendous.

The Culloden hotel is set in beautiful surroundings not far from the airport. The rooms are really comfortable and spacious, the staff are polite and the breakfast was good. The nearby Cultra Inn set in the grounds is also nice for a more relaxed atmosphere.

We really enjoyed our 2 nights at the Culloden. A wonderful position overlooking the lough, really friendly service and superb food both in the bistro-style Cultra Inn and in the restaurant.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel over Chrisitmas. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food was great. The spa was lovely. overall a really great stay.

The hotel markets itself as a relaxing oasis of calm - this is a joke - a tent in the middle of a motorway would be more relaxing. When we arrived at the hotel the place was over-run with wedding guests. We learned there were in fact 3 weddings taking place on that day. This is just pure greed and shows no regard to ordinary guests staying at the hotel. […] It meant there was virtually no where to sit down in the the bar or restaurant. When we got a seat in the bar, the staff ignored us for 10 minutes and I had to collect the menu from the bar counter myself - even though this was seen by the staff and there was no apology. For a supposely 5 star hotel the decor is showing signs of decay, there were several seats in the bar ripped and also uneven folds in the carpets. That night we did not get a wink of sleep due to the guests in the next room shouting and singing drunken songs until 6 am. We rang down to reception 4 times and while someone came to their room, it did not put an end to the noise. The management in the hotel seem to be clueless. Next day while eating some lunch - some management was a staff member around to carry out furniture re-arrangement around us - including taking an armchair from our table without an apology. On checking out we complained to the receptionist about the noise the night before - she asked did we want to speak to the duty manager and we declined just simply wanting to get out of the dreadful place. Of course any manager with the slightest modicum of common sense in a 5 star hotel would have subsequently contacted us by telephone as they had our number - this of course did not happen.
