Amora Hotel Auckland — Auckland

Toenail was on the floor, room smelt of smoke, given two single beds instead of double. Incredibly rude staff member at reception, not friendly at all, lift was broken- told them of this but it was not put out of order- huh????

Friendly check in and room was clean and well appointed with double king spa bath being a highlight. Comfortable bed and modern television but the rest of the room was really dated which was a a little disappointing as the general non spa rooms are very modern and luxurious. Toiletries were similar to cheap motel unfortunately - expected something nicer […] (or NZ) having paid a lot for the room. Air conditioner was broken, reported to reception but no fix. Had to have doors open all night as it was a very hot night so all the noise from the central City was distracting. Shower in spa bath was great pressure but hard to contain water which actually goes through the shower curtain (which wasn't that clean as it must be hard to keep it that way). Had to park our car at a car park in town and walk to the hotel as they wanted to charge us $20 extra on top of what we already paid to park. Still enjoyed the stay, but probably more because of what we made of it (ie using the spa bath and watching TV) rather than room comfort. Would have appreciated something in the room like a cheap box of chocs or something special and maybe a renovated room. We have stayed before and we will again, but I wish they would bring this expensive room up to standard. The spa bath also seems to be leaking through the wall and carpet which has not been addressed since our last visit. Overall, a good place to stay and the only place we can find with a decent double spa, so we will be back. But these rooms are not luxurious as you would expect. Uzziniet vairāk

This is the third time in about ten years I have stayed at this hotel. There seems to have been little maintainence done in this period. It is comfortable but not great. We were on level 7 and there was no in built AC rather there was a portable unit which was very loud. That was unexpected. The car park is also tiny, if you drive a big car I doubt […] you would be able to get it around the basement parking lot without damaging your vehicle. The bed was a king but the joint between the two basses was very noticeable and uncomfy. The staff are friendly but the hotel is awaiting an update, badly. Uzziniet vairāk

the rating of 4.5 stars is probably a little high for this property against others in the region. Clean, tidy hotel.

The Amora Hotel is well located a short walk away from both the red and green link buses, very useful with Auckland's hills. It is an easy walk down Queen Street to cinema, shops and restaurants. We chose the Amora because it has an outside pool and a washer/dryer in the room. The weather was too cool and overcast for much pool use but it looked inviting. […] A hiccup on check-in when they said breakfast was for one person only on the Megabyte package, despite the booking being for 2 people and the website saying breakfast was included, was quickly resolved and we both enjoyed breakfast in the dining room at no extra charge. I keep downgrating hotels where you have to pay for the Internet. And here you not only have to pay, it was also very expensive.

Overall a reasonable hotel Checkout was very slow Instructions to connect to the wireless were useless (I heard at least 6 people talking to front desk over the same issue.) You would think you connect to the wireless node called Amora since you are in the Amora? Apparently you should use "Duxton" - Obvious to anyone ? Location not that central […] . Uzziniet vairāk

I have stayed at this hotel approx. 5 times in 10 years. When it was the Duxton, the staff were extremely well-run. They even remembered me after a two year long hiatus. Now that it is the Amora, the staff is very distant although capable. On my latest stay, as a single female, I was given an undesirable room without notice and as the hotel was full […] was not given a choice to move. My booking was well in advance so I'm assuming my single and female travel status made me an easy target for a room downgrade. Other than that, the hotel was wonderful. Given the price and the location, this is a decent enough hotel but I'm not sure I could recommend it as a hotel experience. For a place to sleep it's fine. Over the weekend it is very noisy though.

The hotel was well worth it for the price we paid. Large room with all amenities including crockery etc. Clean and tidy. Good location - 5mins walk from the central city. Only negative issue was that the aircon unit was a stand-alone one that was very loud. Could not have it on over night as it was too loud which was a bit uncomfortable on a hot summer […] night. This was a good discovery for me when a friend recommended this hotel as it was close to a conference we were attending at University of Auckland. The room was spacious by normal standards and I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had a well-euipped kitchenette - I like to cook and prepare my own meals while away and could do this here with all […] cooking utensils to hand. Importantly for fresh-air travellers who hate cold air conditioning, there is a sliding door to a good-sized, secure balcony so plenty of fresh air. Room service meal ordered the first night of my stay was delivered promptly and good quality for reasonable price. Hotel backs onto a very nice park that leads on to nearby main streets. Not new but still well presented, tidy and comfortable. Room and locality quieter than central city which is only a short walk away.

A great spot, quite but easily accessed from cbd. Good facilities and a place that will care for you every need.

Riktigt bra hotell som kräver lite promenad i uppför när man varit nere i city och shoppat/ätit, men inte så farligt. Hotellet i sig var schysst med bra frukost och bra mat. Poolen var uppdelad i två där den ena delen har "vanlig" temp och den andra mindre säkert över 40 grader. Rummet var trevligt med balkong, pentry och egen tvättmaskin/torktumlare […] i ett.
