People should be aware that the rooms open out into the parking lot, so if you aren't comfortable with a motel like that don't stay there. The web site fails to show you that. We stayed 2 nights for an athletic event at OSU. The price was reasonable, the room very clean, and the bed extremely comfortable. It was just minutes from everywhere we wanted to go in and around OSU. The one negative was being awakened several times each night by loud guests out in the parking lot. "Nothing more than an older Motel, don't be fooled!"
The pictures on line make it look like an actual hotel "Inn" when in fact it is nothing more than a motel. It showed that it had a fitness facility when in fact there was one elliptical, one stationary bike and a broken treadmill. The was no TV, nothing to clean down the equipment and the towels were not replaced. Although it appeared there were recent […] renovations in the room (decor, fixtures in the room) the bathroom was not included in with the renovations. The pictures on the site make it look wonderful when in fact it was old and run down on the outside and somewhat on the inside. I also requested a fridge and microwave and when I arrived there wasn't one in the room and I was not able to get one until the next day. "An acceptable budget hotel"
Overall this was an acceptable budget hotel. Nothing fancy about it, but did job. Our room was clean and well kept, staff was friendly, and it was in a quiet location. The biggest nuisance we dealt with was the strong smell of mold in the room--especially the bathroom and the sink areas. Fortunately we didn't spend much time in the room, making it a […] minor issue, but it would have made things a bit uncomfortable if we had planned to hang out in the room for long periods of time. Other than the smell of mold, the room was in good condition and the beds were comfortable. There are a handful of restaurants within a 10 minute walk which was convenient. The Varsity Inn North was our base of operations for four nights on a visit to our home town. It's very conveniently located and is minutes from most central Columbus destinations. If your reason for visiting is in Upper Arlington, Grandview, Clintonville, or any area related to the north central part of the city you won't find anything as quick at […] this price. Not a sidewalk area but you can walk to a very good Mexican restaurant called El Vaquero or Rooster's Wings. They're both 100 yards away. Other than that you have to hope in the car.
