This was a charming hotel with an outstanding front-desk staff. It is located in a more suburban part of the city, but within walking distance to Trinity College and the bustling parts of Dublin. We felt completely comfortable walking this area at any time of the day or night, so didn't mind it being a bit more on the outskirts. The staff was always […] cheerful and willing to answer questions or set up a dinner or show for us. The breakfast at the hotel was fairly typical, but we were glad to have it each morning before venturing out for the day. If you prefer to be smack in the middle of the city as soon as you walk out the door, you might want to check another hotel. Our first impressions on walking into our room were good. The room seemed to have everything we needed. However we soon discovered that the exhaust fan in the bedroom didn't work, the vanity tap leaked everywhere every time it was turned on, there were 2 out of 4 lamps that didn't work, the kettle was old and dirty and we were placed on the bottom level […] where we looked out onto rubbish bins and it was a loading area where staff gathered to have a smoke and talk. We were not happy and decided to complain. We could not move that night because they had a full house, but the next morning we were placed in another room two floors above where we were more comfortable. There were still problems with the room, and we believe that some extra care on the upkeep will make wonderful improvements. Overall though the staff were great and we ate in their restaurant on one night and the food was excellent. Would have been good if the white wine was chilled before serving, as I had to ask for some ice to make it cold before I could drink it. Uzziniet vairāk

The Schoolhouse Hotel is a lovely old hotel on the outskirts of Dublin. It has one of the coolest pubs of any hotel we stayed at in Ireland. Had to wait in the bar to check in, but the staff were nice enough to come and let me know that the room was ready. Charming ambiance, nice people, but hotel a little old. Rooms/toilets clean and tidy, though. 15-20 minutes from city centre, so central enough.

We highly recommend the Schoolhouse hotel. The rooms are spacious, warm and immaculate with comfortable beds. Loved the ambiance. We also enjoyed the convenience of the restaurant and pub. The breakfasts provided a wide variety of hot and cold choices. We walked to Trinity College and Grafton Street. After dark and at the end of the day we did hail […] a cab. Convenient hotel if you did not want to stay in the centre of Dublin. Not a 4 star hotel more like a three star.

This hotel has character and I love that they have a bit of history on their walls. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. My only complaint about this place is that I could never get hot water in the shower. It was luke warm at best. Could have been a one-off situation though.

Everything was terrific - only disappointment was lack of consistent internet service in the room. Loved the atmosphere, central location - would definitely stay there again. Also pleased with size of room - not cramped at all.

Great location for touring - right on the air coach line and near enough to downtown to walk. Proximity to the canal may attribute to some dampness in lower rooms, but comfortable surroundings and friendly staff throughout. The bar cafe is the way to go with fireplace and nice food. Excellent hotel - great staff, good food, very pleasant surroundings with a touch of history and conveniently located: the Airbus stops outside. There were some problems with the wireless internet while i was there but I am sure they will sort that out.

This is a top tear hotel. Wish we had stayed longer at this hotel than some of the others we stayed at in Ireland during our trip. This is one of those "hidden" gems people talk about, that we had the luck to stay at...

We loved staying at the School house in Dublin! The location was great. It was a 15 minute walk to the downtown area, and the price was pretty good for what we got. The hallway had a bit of an old odor to it, but the room smelled great. We were on American time when we got there, so we ended up getting hungry and ordering sandwiches from room service […] at around 2 am two nights in a row. The Schoolhouse was a wonderful experience except..................................both mornings we had virtually no hot water for our showers, just barely warm. There was plenty of "very" hot water in the sink. I had a really bad cold so think a good hot shower might have been helpful. The restaurant was definitely a four star facility. Room was slightly dark and some corners in the bathroom needed a good clean out but nothing major. Staff were very friendly, food was very good (busy bar) and location was great being slightly outside the centre but with good bus links both to/from the centre and with an aircoach stop right outside.

We stayed at the Schoolhouse in the souther part of Dublin for 4 nights. We were treated with great hospitality and the staff did everything for us at the highest level of customer satisfaction. Their Expedia rating should be a 5.0 if it were up to me. Great location for the Air Coach bus, the Dublin City bus, and relatively close to the Grand Canal […] DART rail station. Within walking distance to Aviva stadium. The Breakfast is a full Irish breakfast and was excellent. We ate dinner once in the restaraunt and twice in the Pub. Really great decor thruout the hotel. The Hotel was very nice, close to the city but not too close. It had a restaurant & Pub which was also nice. The rooms were well kept, bightly colored. the only thing that could've been better is the service at the reception desk. They didn't help in advising us on local activities which would've have been nice.

The stay was fine. The issue I had with the hotel is when we went to the dining room at 7:00 for dinner when it was supposed to be open, not a single individual was there. We looked around and found no one. Went to the front desk and they said they'd contact someone and 10 minutes later, someone (the chef) showed up. The entire meal took over 2 hours […] and was at best so-so. You would think they would be at least prepared since they advertise the restaurant and this is directly from their website- Located in the charming Schoolhouse Hotel, the restaurant has a combination of elegance, an intimate ambience and unparalleled service. very quaint boutique hotel in the leafy Ballsbridge suburbs. Just stayed in the hotel for one night whilst at a concert. Free WI-FI . Had excellent dinner in the hotel, would recommend the steak, good atmosphere in the restaurent / bar. Thoroughly enjoyed the short stay.

We just spent a wonderful eight days at the Schoolhouse. The people at the front desk were alway very willing to help and went out of their way to provide helpfull suggestions. The location is really great. A bit away from the city center in a very nice, safe area. You can walk to Trinity College area in about 10 minutes and the city cent in about 15 […] minutes. There are several very nice restaurants within about a five minute walk. There are only 31 rooms, so it is quite manageable. This place is adorable and has it all. Free parking, for starters! Good luck finding that in Dublin so close to the city center. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, lush, and had amazing accents reminiscent of era that this place was a real schoolhouse. We were able to walk all over the city and easily come back to this hotel. […] Oh and the free movies, internet, and cookies were a nice touch. The staff were very friendly, and the setting is lovely. The School House exudes charm, character and warmth. This is a small 'boutique style' hotel. We had a deluxe room and while it was not overly large it was ample and nicely decorated. The shower was very powerful, some people might find it overwhelming! We included breakfast which was nicely presented […] with a buffet of cold food and served hot food. We had dinner in the bar one evening which was very pleasant - lovely oysters (the restaurant is not open on Sunday and Monday nights). The hotel is about 15 minutes walk to the central Grafton Street area, so not the closest but it worked fine for us. There is a car park in the yard but it's a bit cramped. Uzziniet vairāk

This is a nice 4-star hotel at a reasonable price. The bed was comfortable but the bathroom is small (and the bath tub is tiny even for a petite person). I was in the basement floor and the walls were paper-thin. The noise from adjoining rooms were so bad that I could hear the lady next door cough all night long....

You hear hotels reviewed all the time as "boutique" and "charming". This one actually is all of that. Tastefully restored school house, good looking rooms, nice bathroom, and lovely part of Dublin. The staff was superb.

Very nice place with an interesting setting. The comfort of the hotel was good, but the Traditional Irish Breakfast in the pub below was very greasy and expensive, so I would skip that meal.

Situated a little out of town so a bit quieter, which suited us. Small car park which did get very full & we had to find a meter on the road to park for a few hours which was irritating. Very large comfy beds, lovely staff. We stayed in a suite, it was ok, bit dated & nothing special.

A very quaint hotel in a beautiful old school building. The staff are so very pleasant and willing to help with any .request. Situated in a beautiful neighbourhood, but quite a long walk to the centre if one is not too keen to walk. The pub is very well designed and has a fabulous atmosphere and is clearly popular with locals. The food is very good […] quality . Delicious tasty cooked breakfasts and really good health option as well. The housekeeping could pay more attention. THe bathroom was not cleaned properly, basin not wiped down and empty bath gels not removed and in fact left in the same position as we left them . The cold water tap mechanism fell off when touched, so clearly not inspected. ALso a missing doorknob on the cupboard. these are things that must be checked as this is how hotel rooms deteriorate. What a lovely place to stay. Close to the city but not smack in the middle of it. The rooms were lovely and have details like you don't see at chain hotels in the states. My daughter and I stayed one night and would definitely stay again. The breakfast was far better than I anticipated. What a lovely place to stay on holiday!

This is the most unusual hotel. An old school with beautiful arhitecture. Bar looks like an old school gym and restaurant a school hall. Bedrooms are simply fantastic. Hardest pillows ever. Like bricks. The bed was also hard (but I like that). Only thing that had a negative impact. But sleeping comfort is an essential part of the experience, hence the consequence for the grade they got. Very nice rooms otherwise, impeccable cleanliness.
