We loved the location, near GranVia2 shopping center and close to the train station. Rooms have a modern decoration. My only complain was the amount of dust all over the room even in the floors, it felt like the room was not cleaned in several days. Told the front desk to please send someone to clean, but they did not.

Love this hotel and the very friendly, helpful staff who speak wonderful English. The mini bar is no longer free but all the other positive comments about the hotel are true. It's so easy to take the bus 46 from the airport (2 euros/person) and less than 20 euros to the port by taxi and 12 euro to the city centre. On our arrival, the room was not ready. When we went to our room, although we paid for 2 adults, 1 child and also requested a baby cot, there were only two single beds (Twin Bed) in the room. Later they put an extra single bed in the room for my daughter and a cot bed for our baby. In our room, toilet flush was BROKEN, although it got fixed later. The […] AIR_CON was not working in the room and when we asked why, they said "it can only works as a cooler or a heater and at the moment it is set as heater for all the rooms"!!! Also, they told us that the mini-fridge is NOT FREE ANYMORE! The worst part was one of the reception girls (I'm being nice and not mentioning her name here!), who was rude, despite forcing herself to smile time to time. She was not apologetic towards the things went wrong on our stay and sort of telling us "this is what it is, take it or leave it". This was not what we expected from a 4 star hotel. On the plus side, the location of the hotel is convenient to get to the city and there is a nice shopping center near the hotel. Stayed in a double room which was comfortable with an excellent bathroom. Room was always cleaned immaculately. Shame that they do not allow you to borrow an iron for crumpled shirts though.. Can't comment on the breakfast as I always ate out. Location of hotel was a little away from the main centre but located just a 5 minute walk to the nearest metro stop, which then takes a further 10 minutes to the main centre. Close to the hotel is the excellent Gran Via 2 shopping mall which has a variety of good restaurants too. Cheapest way of getting to hotel from airport is to catch the No.46 bus which stops just to the front of Gran Via 2 and costs 2 euros, then walk the few minutes behind the mall to the hotel. The high point of our pre-cruise, 3 night stay in Barcelona was getting my pocket picked on the Metro on the second day. The manager said that they would provide any help we needed. He and his staff were great. I made 5 overseas calls to cancel credit cards etc. and he wouldn't accept payment. We were in a foreign country with $40 in cash and no credit […] card. Gran Via shopping center across the street most beautiful mall I have ever seen. Easy subway to city center. Go see the maritime museum. watch out for pick pockets. We are from Seattle, so nice to see Starbucks near the cathedral. 2 hour wait to buy tickets into famiglia church. you are a great hotel. very fast wifi in lobby.

This hotel was wonderful. The front staff is extremely helpful and knowledgable and the room was very clean and very modern. The bathroom was especially nice. The only complaint I have is about the breakfast. Breakfast was not included in the price for us and it ended up costing about 30 Euros for two people. Other than that, no complaints!

Not the best place to stay if you want to be at the centre of all the action but public transportation to city centre is close by, the surrounding area is quiet and safe and there are eateries & a shopping mall across the road. Modern decor, spotless facilities and helpful, courteous service at an excellent rate - hard to beat.

On the Hotels.com website, we selected this hotel, and choose the "two queen beds" option. When we arrived we were shocked to find two twin beds instead. There is no "two queen" option, despite the fact that it was what we selected, and believed that we paid for. The staff at the AC Hotel Som by Marriott is outstanding. The airline lost our luggage and we were scheduled to board a cruise ship on Sunday. If it wasn't for the staff who kept calling the airline on our behalf, I don't think our luggage would have made it to cruise ship in time. Thank you staff at AC Holtel by Marriott very much.

The hotel was about 20 minutes from the city center by train, which meant the surrounding area was relatively quiet. One benefit was that all trains lines stopped at city center, so there was no confusion reading maps. The room was in good shape, with only a little wear in the bathroom. Everything was good and operational; any wear was purely cosmetic. […] Room service was better than average and not too pricey. The room had a television with many channels, but almost all of them were in Spanish or Catalan (just three English-speaking channels), so trying to relax with some TV was futile for a non-Spanish speaker. Wifi is available for free in the lobby, but if you want to have access in your room (if you room is above the 2nd or 3rd floor), you will need to pay 12 euros for the day. My room faced away from the wind, and it was consequently a bit too warm for my comfort. The window didn't open wide enough to let in much air, but in the summer, I would imagine that there is air conditioning to make it more comfortable. All said, the hotel was a very good deal in a quiet part of the city, 30 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from city center. Trains run late enough that getting back after a night out isn't an issue, and there is a large shopping center just down the street if you need anything. The hotel is not in the middle of all the action, but that was a good thing because the area was extremely quiet. We were scheduled to stay for 3 nights. As it happened, my husband got sick throughout our stay and needed the quiet. The hotel staff (housekeeping, front desk and even the bar tender who doubled as kitchen help) were extremely accommodating […] through this difficult time. We received healthcare recommendations, hot toddies and homemade chicken soup (outside the menu). We were scheduled to go to Malaga from there and learned that the airline we were to take had really strict luggage weight restrictions and thus had to leave a bag behind. The hotel agreed to hold it for us until our return--2 weeks later (at no charge)!! Of course we cancelled our reservations at the other hotel, near Las Ramblas (where we were scheduled to stay for another 4 nights upon our return) and chose to return to this hotel. We found that travel to all the main sites was not bad, given the good directions from the front desk, and using buses and trains, which were readily accessible from this location. In fact, travel was very inexpensive and we were able to get to the airport, only half an hour away, for the regular cost of a bus ride. So of course, we gave staff members handsome tips for their excellent service and still came out ahead with all our savings!!!! This hotel is actually owned by Marriott now and offers a free minibar just like the AC Diplomatic in Las Ramblas. AC Som's two best features are the location across the street from a shopping mall, Gran Via 2, that holds a huge multistory Carrefour and the free breakfast buffet. The closest tourist destination is the Spanish Village. That is also the […] closest tourist bus stop but we decided to take taxis everywhere which averaged $6 to $10. Barcelona was experiencing a record number of visitors and we noticed huge lines and waits for the tourist buses but many available taxis parked right at La Sagrada Familia and other destinations. The hotel staff spoke adequate English and I used the dry cleaning service which was prompt. This hotel was a great price and we stayed 4 nights. Would stay again. Our window faced the shopping mall where we had lunch or dinner daily. Taxis stopped frequently in front of the hotel but staff called one for us on the last day to depart for our cruise ship which cost about $12. The trip from the airport to this hotel was $32. Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We were on a tight budget so couldn't afford a hotel right in the centre of the city but the nearby metro station (5 minute walk) made up for this. Anywhere in the city is accessible in around 15-30 minutes. The surrounding area was good with a shopping centre, restaurants and a supermarket. Excellent choice. The hotel is clean and modern, has even the adaptor for the plugs. Free minibar. Internet is high speed. We could not have had a better choice. It is not lockated in City Center but the access is very easy. We had a car but we didn't need to pay the hotel parking because around the hotel was free parking.
