This hotel should be rated much higher than it is. The employees go above and beyond what was expected. They also have a nice free social supper on some nights. Would definitely stay here again!

We were blown away with everything included, even the washing machines and dryers. We had a BBQ one night using the facilities outside and cooked in our room another. I took my family (7 of us) to San Diego for a Christmas trip and we stayed here. The hotel was very nice. Our suite was large enough for all 7 us of to feel comfortable. We stayed in a 2-bdrm suite that was very clean. Two enclosed rooms- closing doors, closets, bathrooms. Plus living area and kitchen stocked with dishware, fridge, sink, dishwasher. With four adults (mom/dad/grandparents) and two young boys, the suite felt roomy enough. The hotel was family friendly. They even provided a free crib upon arrival. Housekeeping […] provided new towels and cleaned daily. On the weekend, you have to request but they were nice about it. A FANTASTIC perk- FREE BUFFET breakfast. Same stuff each day but enough selection: bagels, cereals, yogurt, eggs, bacon/sausage, waffles, etc. Plus juices, sodas, and coffees. Breakfast ends at 9:30am/weekdays,10:30am/weekends. We saved a TON of $ with this. On Thursday night there was a "social" dinner buffet. The variety wasn't great, but it was free and drinks included- even beer and wine. For other meals, there is a food court next door. There's a small pool plus outdoor area with a basketball court(front desk has a ball), bbqs and tables. Parking was free and plentiful. The biggest downside is the location in relation to San Diego attractions. SeaWorld was a bit of a drive- not too bad but not too good. But you save in the price for this inconvenience. Also, only one set of elevators which might mean a big walk to the room. There was no smoking, so always a large group of people walking outside smoking away at every entrance. We expected more, but this is what they could offer during construction. Location is convenient with grocery store / eateries right next to the hotel. Commuting to attractions are within 30 minutes / 12-15 miles driving. This is a beautiful hotel slightly off beaten path. If you love shopping there are lots to do near here. It is about 10 minutes away from hotel circle. We called it in the middle because you go a few miles off any freeway to get here. However that being said it was a very nice place to stay. Friendly staff and good facilities.

The hotel was going under renovations during our stay but because of the extra lengths that were gone to make us comfortable, i would return again. The location is about ten miles from seaworld and san diego zoo, we didnt mind the drive. We were provided light breakfast every morning and also dinner three nights of the week. They even made arrangements with a hotel down the street for guests to use their pool, which was great since i was traveling with a 3 yr old. My husband and i slept soundly. I am an female traveler and never like the cleaning ladies leaving the windows open.Additionally, the widows did not have good locks and did not have secondary security features to keep them from beinh opened wide enough for someone to enter form the outside. Otherwise the hotel was very nice.

We rented a two room suite for the weekend because my sister was getting married and we needed a nice hotel and when we got there the entire hotel was under renovation and they never called us to tell us. Then main TV was not working properly, two of the remote controls were not working. This "suites" hotel doesn’t offer cleaning service on the weekends […] unless you ask for it. Saturday morning we left the room and we saw a garbage bag on the hallway, we asked two people to clean our room and they said yes. When we came back that night the garbage bag was still in the hallway and my room was still dirty. We went to the front desk and the guy that was working there said that he was sorry and asked me to bring our own garbage to him!!! I paid a lot of money for this suite; we shouldn’t be cleaning the room, washing dishes and bringing the garbage out. We decided this will be our "default" SD hotel for the next few years while we travel with young grandchildren. Hotel allows 5 to stay in one suite with 2 queen beds and sofa bed in separate living room--this is great for us! The healthy breakfast helps get the day going and cuts down on time and cost of finding a restaurant. We stayed three nights and took in the evening "dinner" reception on one night and appreciated that too. Hotel location requires about 1/2 hour drive to the usual SD tourist destinations, but it's a good trade for us while traveling with grandkids. Surrounding area has plenty of grocery stores, restaurants, drugstores. The hotel staff was truly OUTSTANDING offering EXCELLENT customer service. Issues with suite: Sink stopped up in one bathroom. Toilet did not consistently flush in second bathroom. The larger multipurpose microwave oven did not work; a smaller one was provided instead. Mattress in sofabed dipped in the center; needs to be replaced. Mattresses in the […] other rooms were too soft; great pillows and 100% cotton blankets offered great warmth. "Full" kitchen consisted of two burners (one small/one large) to cook, full refrigerator, and dishwasher; there was no oven. It is always a good idea to check with property to find out the contents of a "full" kitchen. Good breakfast buffet choices that changed each day; meat was not provided with each breakfast. Computer in Business Center needs to be upgraded with the latest versions of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat; internet speed was very slow. The greatest asset is the AWESOME customer service; staff are attentive, prompt, ready to resolve issues, and address concerns. Library offered good selection of children and adult movies on DVD and VHS. In suite, both bedrooms had VHS players; unable to watch DVDs in bedrooms; living area had a DVD player. Suite is not spacious; it's quite "cozy"; wood furniture is worn and could be updated. Suite served its purpose but we would opt for a different hotel in the future. It is hard to rate this hotel since we were not able to stay here. We had planned for months to go to have a family vacation in Southern California during Spring Break. But just days before our vacation, we had a medical emergency in the family that preceded our visit to this hotel. We had prepaid our hotel with Staybridge and they were not willing to extend a refund or provide any other courtesy -- even with several days before a scheduled arrival at their hotel. I love the Staybridge chain. We always look forward to staying here on our trips. The Sorrento Staybridge is a little different in its set up than others that we have stayed. This was the first time my family stayed at Staybridge. This was ideal for 4 nights. The room was great. We really liked the layout. It was nice that our 2 children (9 & 11) had their own room and their own bathroom. We also liked having a small kitchen. The grounds were not huge. I was kind of tired driving from San Jose all day when I arrived at the hotel. as I walked in I was pleasantly surprised to find that complementary dinner was being served (Tues to Thursday only). Can't argue with that. Free laundry room was nice, but you had to buy your own detergent (optional). Fitness room is right next to the laundry room so you can do your laundry and get a workout while you wait (or go outside for a round basketball/swimming). Parking was plentiful and convenient. Did I mention the friendly front desk staff? The bad, the walls seem a little thin, we could hear the kids upstairs running around early in the morning. The bathroom fixtures seems a little used, the water in the shower drips unless you crank the handle all the way back with force (my girls and parents just gave up trying to shut the water after the first night). The hotel had a decent size pool in the back - not a lap pool but big enough to swim comfortably. There was also sitting area by the pool and also in the patio backyard. The free breakfast bar was big enough to accomodate hot breakfast rotated every day to cold cereals and fruit that were there everyday. There was plenty for people who were watching […] their diet to people who wanted to load up for a long day. Although we didn't eat dinner during our stay (free dinners offered 3 evenings of the week), we did see plenty of people who were dining in the evenings. The dinner menu also seemed to rotate on a daily basis. In addition, coffee / tea was available most of the day / evenings in the common lounge area.
