Aris Grand Place Hotel Brussels — Brussels

While the room was small, who spends much time in the room anyway?! Just a block away from the Grand Place, the Aris is so convenient to all of the sights of Brussels! The staff was very friendly as well! The convenience of the location outweighs all other measures. Recommended to us, we will recommend to others!

Ok, if you are a young student or couple with very few money. Than it's an option since its location is excellent. If you travel for business, the quality is below the acceptable threshold. No interne, no matter what they advertt, very old furniture, very basic service, unconfortable pillow, very noise heating, basic breakfast....

Fantastic location, 4 mins walk from station and 2 mins walk from Grand Place. We watched the light show from our bedroom window one night when it rained. Staff friendly. Lovely deep bath, and the shower was fab. Loads of piping hot water. No tea/coffee facilities but we new this before and took our own. Did not eat here but breakfast looked good. Restaurant […] next door was brilliant and cheap. Exactly what you would expect for the money, not glamorous but perfect location, clean, and well priced. Would definitely stay here again. Very unfriendly staff:(

The Aris Grand Place is as centrally located as you can get, less than a 1 minute walk to Grand Place itself so if you want something convieniently located then this is a good place. The location comes with its downsides, its noisy and on a main street so revellers kept us awake until about 4am. Its quite basic from a comfort point of view, but you […] get what you pay for. So if you want a reasonably priced, well located hotel this is for you....if you want mod cons and comfort then maybe not. I had no issues with my stay, the staff were helpful and friendly I just wish I'd managed to have got a little more sleep oh and an extra pillow would have been nice. Uzziniet vairāk

convenient location to main train & metro station and 2mins from main Grand place / grote market. lots of nearby resturants offering fantastic meal deals. twin room was fine size wise but rooms could be modernised, it was clean however and ideal for its purpose (overnight sleep). would recommend hotel and stay again.

If you want to be close to the Grand Place with enough comofort and good price, this is a good option. The hotel could do with some "face lifting" but anyway if you aren't too fancy this is a good place to stay.

Room was standard small room for Europe, bathroom was nice and clean. Staff was exceptionally helpful and courteous. Location was unbelievable!! Just steps from the Grand Place, right in the middle of the historic center. Close to dozens of restuarants, tons of shopping and chocolate. We were on the 5th floor (the top floor). The ceiling in the room was made of metal panels that did not fully close off the room from the attic. As such, there was quite a bit of debris that was throughout the room. The room was not well cleaned even apart from that. Dead bugs on the walls, bathroom not fully cleaned before our arrival. Maids dropped […] toothbrushes on the floor ... hotel did not have any replacements to provide and moved a bunch of our stuff around even though we had the card on the door requesting no entrance. Some of the staff were incredibly rude. Actually got physically involved in trying to resolve a billing dispute. Been to Europe over 200 times. Lived and traveled in the Far East. Worst hotel we ever stayed in. Staff was so rude we almost checked out. We would have too if we could have gotten our money back. Rooms were incredibly small even by European standards. Beds were horrible. Actually had to use our heavier clothes to make pillows as theirs were so thin […] and and lumpy. Bedding and towels were thin and worn. Looked out on a brick wall. Breakfast was a joke especially for the price. Wouldn't even compare to a cheap motel chain in the US. Actually it struggles to achieve a one star status. Could not stay there again and would not recommend under any circumstances despite location. I travel a lot, and frequently stay in hotels all over the world, but this is the worst I've ever experienced. The staff were rude. At one point we wanted to leave, but you have to leave your key at reception, yet there was no one to be found.... the receptionist was having a shouting argument with another guest about internet access around the corner. […] By this time 3 more guests had arrived, and had to wait for it to finish before we could leave. 9am Saturday morning housekeeping came into the room and woke us up (not unusual for a hotel in fairness), but then proceeded to clean and vacumn outside the room.. and when they moved to the room next door, the walls were so paper thin we could hear everything. There is more staff issues, but you get the point. Luckily Brussels is a wonderful city and makes up for this hotel, but I'd avoid staying here at all costs!! The hotel is in a good location and is very close to the sites and mainline station(s). Room is a little basic but does everything well.

fantastic location just minutes from the Grand Place. The only drawback was the noisy street outside which is understandable for the location. Room basic but clean. Staff very welcoming.

Very near Central station. Only a block from Grand Place market square. Near Brussells 'Restaurant Row. Room was comfortable but could use an upgrade. Breakfast pricy.

Located right next to the central train station and the Grand Place, Hotel Aris is in a perfect location. Also, the hotel is much nicer than similarly priced hotels. Definitely recommend.

only stayed one night on route to amsterdam. the hotel is in a great location 5mins walk from brussels central station and 2 minutes walk from the Grand Place and many local restaurants. room was quiet and comfortable, the only sting in the tail was the extortionate price charged for a very mediocre buffet breakfast. it cost an additional 33% of our […] room charge so my advice is eat out at one of the many mouthwatering cafes, bakeries or waffle shops nearby. clean and tidy and our room had a good view of bustling streets. On arrival we were asked for copies of a credit card for each room ( presumably in case we trashed the place) However we were instantly charged 50 E each (made aware of this via SMS from bank) on check out you must remember to get this transaction reversed ! good hotel in great location […] though Uzziniet vairāk

Good location and pretty bathroom. The water is cold so washing hair is no fun here. Bed is small and pillow tiny. I would still go back because it's in the middle of the centre and with a good price.

Location good, room adequate, service poor

We enjoyed the hotel - nice staff, very clean. The pillows could have been bigger.

Hotel room was small, elevator very small, breakfast expensive, awesome location near shopping district. Hotel had lots of charm and staff was very friendly. A bit pricy but you are paying for location. We had a view of Eiffel Tower from room, and it was within walking distance. I would recommend to stay here.

The Hotel Aris is in a great location, staff are accommodating and the rooms are basic but clean and more than sufficient for a stay in Brussels.

The hotel was nice, however it would have been nice to know about the addition hotel tax that we had to pay on leaving the hotel

Very good location but the room had a terrible view to a back street

Great location. All concierge were fluent in English, French, and Dutch. Rooms weren't anything to write home about, but larger than most European rooms. The duvet cover had some patched holes in it, but everything was clean. Fairly thin walls, but not enough to keep me up at night. Great hotel if you can get a deal on it.

Good budget hotel in and excellent location. The facilities are basic but the staff are friendly and if you only want a place to put your head down after a few beers it more than serves its purpose.

Friendly and obliging staff at the reception. Room like a monk's cell. Looked out over a filthy uncleaned alleyway. No hot water!! (I know that this is an incidental problem not a structural one. But I discovered it at 02:00 and called reception: by 10:00 it was still not fixed! No 24/24 service contract!). Breakfast advertised as a "buffet breakfast" […] was in fact just a help-yourself continental breakfast, cook your own eggs (great!) but not even any bloody ham! Just cheap lousy salami & processed cheese. Coffee OK. Sorry will not want to repeat that experience. I wonder if I can demand a refund even though it was a discouint price? Uzziniet vairāk

A good place overall, a fair deal. Excel location, close to Grand Place, good chocolate shops, et al, and Brussels Central Trains station. The room was comfortable and clean. Undisclosed phone use charges were a lot of money--over 15 euros for less than 1/2 hour of local calls--a big surprise.

Great location...wonderful view from the window. However, the street was pretty noisy throughout the night...bring earplugs!

Clean and decent hotel. Superb location.

I spent 50 mins going round in circles late at night trying to find this.... the key is the address... the locals all use the French name "Place Des Herbes" , rather than the Flemish "Grassmarkt"!!... even when on the right street locals were saying they did not know where Grassmarkt was. The hotel itself is a little spartan in its facilities, but that […] is fine as it sits on a busy square (well actually a triangle) of bars and cafes. It is only 50m from the main Grand Place, which is the hub of the whole centre. This has a slight drawback in that the metro system has no stops in the centre itself. The nearest stops are Brussels Central (also the train station) and De Broukerie, the former being by far the simplest. The latter being a bit tortuous. Being in the city centre certainly eases sight-seeing and proximity to the railway station also allowed an excellent day trip to Leuven one day. I always feel Brussels is greatly under-rated and treated like a transport junction and little more. If you limit yourself to the station surroundings (particularly the area around Brussels Midi where the Eurostar comes in) then first impressions may well be "what a dump"... however, venture towards the old centre, just a couple of metro stops north, and it is a different story... clearly a European capital to rival many others. Keep clear of the European Parliament area though unless you are a lover of bland modern architecture. There is a strange clash between French and Flemish cultures here, and both can be seen. If you venture northwards the friction between the factions grows and you are better accepted speaking English than French in these Flemish speaking zones. Three doors away from the hotel was the excellent Toon Museum pub, the only one I know which is also a puppet theatre. My fifth stay in Brussels and I will go again. Uzziniet vairāk

This hotel was a great deal. Right in the center of the old city of Brussels. The hotel is very clean and well taken care of.

Great location - helpful staff, and decent rooms. The room i Had was huge by European standards, clean and orderly. The hotel staff helped me with directions and navigating the train/metro system. Overall a great experience!

We booked this hotel in a hurry, and when we arrived, everything was perfect. The staff was really professionnal and we had the good surprise of discovering that through hotels.com we booked the room for one fourth of its price. As a young woman, I find international travel on my own very intimidating, but everything seemed to start alright. I checked in and was given a reasonable room. I got up to the room, unloaded some of my suitcase before receiving a call from the front desk, saying I had to change rooms. He explained that he had given me a double room, when I only reserved […] a single room. I packed up my things and towed my belongings back to the front desk and was given another key, 113. This room should be on the first floor (above the check in) next to 111, right? No - it was hidden behind the breakfast dining area, down a short hallway, in the very back. The bathroom floor was wet and smelled a bit like mildew. Someone had taken a shower, left the water dripping, and the hotel staff had not cleaned the bathroom afterward. Maybe the staff uses this room to take a refreshing afternoon shower, then doesn't clean up and checks American tourists in. The room was literally 8.5'x7.5'. I don't know how it was legal for them to house me in this terrible room, which barely fit the bed and a 13", rounded, tube style TV. I went to the front desk, who told me there were no available rooms to switch to, even though I checked in before 5pm. The receptionist said it was his last day, and said he didn't care. good location, thats about it. room (#503) was outdated and run down and the bathroom and part of the main room had sketchy ceilings with slots in it so anyone or anything could be up there looking down, over the toilet and the bathroom. when they light is on it also illuminates the area above the ceiling so you can see the crawl space (almost big enough […] to stand) and i don't think there was anything weird going on, but a set up like that did cause concern for potential problems. but the worst parts was that we FOUND MULTIPLE HUMAN HAIRS IN OUR BED AND IN THE SHEETS UPON READYING TO SLEEP. it was midnight and there was nothing we could do at that point. TOTALLY DISGUSTING, we told the front desk the next morning and they offered nothing other than an "oh". we stayed at another hotel with a better location and a better room the following night and it was CHEAPER than this hotel. worst hotel we stayed at during our 12 say trip through france belgium and amsterdam. this is the best hotel in Brussels for value and position! we could not believe that we had arrived somewhere so nice, and so near the city centre for the reasonable price we paid, we thought we were in the wrong hotel! strongly reccommend.

Very nice hotel in absolutely the best area in Brussels. Even if you're looking for something a little classier, this is the area to look for.

¿Por qué tienen que estropear un fin de semana genial? El hotel muy céntrico, básico pero bien pero no deis la tarjeta de crédito al llegar. Me hicieron un cargo de 60euros que vi cuando volví del viaje y no quisieron dar explicaciones ni a mi ni al intermediario. Si ha sido un error, queda fatal. Si no lo ha sido...no hace falta decir nada más

Stanze grandi, arredamento semplice, bagno con vasca pulito. Abbastanza silenzioso. Posizionamento dell'hotel molto buono, con molte attività commerciali. Complessivamente semplice, anche se mi aspettavo qualcosa in più.

Das Hotel bietet zweckmässigen Komfort, mein Einbettzimmer war klein, aber ausreichend. Für Städtetouristen optimal ist die Lage mitten im Herzen Brüssels, wenige Meter von der Grande Place und neben den Galeries Saint Hubert.
