Nice place, but confusing the first time. Not much directions for parking, room access, elevators

It was within walking distance of Union Station if you don't wanna waste your money on a taxi. The front desk lady was very nice as well as security people. Only thing that was confusing that they did not explain very well is the 2nd elevator to get to the 40th floor is kinda around the corner no sign to point it out. Also, one elevator just refused […] to take us to the 3rd floor for the pool and complimentary breakfast. Overall I would stay again bed was very comfy nice big bathroom the view was AMAZING!! At first we were not sure what to think, we checked in Easter Sunday and since it is in an office building it was pretty shut down. We contacted the lady at the front desk, she was friendly, coureous and helpful. Our room was incredible, large and confortable. The bed was a dream to sleep in. Out view from the 40th floor was incredible. The best thing […] at least for us was how quiet the hotel was. The free breakfast was good. Usual Scram Eggs, Sausage, bacon, French Toast, pancakes. Plus fresh fruit all kinds of juices, organic yogurt. Very nice. The only slightly bad not, was since the pool is in the Athletic Club, it was closed the first night and the hours are only till 9pm most days. But the Pool and hot tub were amazing. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. We had a nice time, we looked around at some of the other hotels in the area, costing around the same to a fair amount more, and we were impressed with our choice. Although this hotel is somewhat unusual, being situated inside a large bank/office tower block, it has distinct advantages because of that - namely, quiet, peaceful, seclusion! There was no noise from neighbors, people in the hall, traffic, etc., and no wait for the elevators! The room was large, very comfortable, and clean. There was a pretty view […] over the city to the lake. The free continental breakfast actually included a cooked buffet selection, when I was only expecting coffee and pastries. The surrounding streets were quite deserted - slightly disconcerting for a lone woman traveler, but not a problem. Also, I did not spot any signage announcing the hotel, but found the street address very easily on my gps, and had no problem getting where I needed to be. A security guard for the building, and a receptionist were available at all times. The location was very accessible for the Merchandise Mart, and a short walk from the CTA at LaSalle. The hotel had a beautiful view. The athletic club (gym&pool)was easy to use and accommodated any want or need. The hours on the weekend were shorter then I would have liked. Breakfast was good with a beautiful view. Everyone that worked for the hotel were extremely helpful and nice. Parking was cheaper then the other places around. Were only blocks […] from everything, Union Station, Feild Museum, Aquerium, Willis tower, Buchingham fountain,& Michagain Ave shopping.we go to Chicago once a year for my birthday and can not wait to stay here again! In that high building you can see the Chicago view without going to any other building !

We loved the location (right between the loop and the blue line) and view from this hotel (wow! icluded the lake!) The room was spacious, the furniture was comfortable but well worn, the very clean bedsheets smelled like bleach, there was no water pressure for the shower and the TV was quite dated with limited cable access. This seemed like a good place […] to stay if you weren't actually going to stay in the room. The breakfast bar was quite nice, although it wasn't available when we had to leave the hotel by 6:15 AM to catch our flight. The clunky and heavy room key seemed ridiculously old school and they charged you $25 if not returned at check out. Negatives were finding the place. We called the lobby clerk and she stayed on the phone with us till we found the parking place. Our room was shorted towels and soap and when we asked they said they ran out. View was great and room was nice. The worst was the water pressure which was extremely low and also water was not hot.

This was an awesome place to stay. Very quiet because there weren't very many guests and the staff were very nice. The athletic club was wonderful from the temp gauge showers to supplying you with hair ties. The only thing I didn't like was the furniture except the bed was outdated. Including the tv. IF you need to be in town, this is a great place, with peace and quiet 40 floors up ! Situated in the Chicago Stock Trading building, it's bustling in the week, but the hotel floor is so calm and peaceful. The Reception is on the ground floor and the staff are the best ! Tips for travelling there - you be confused on arrival, but reception is in the […] corner. The hotel has it's own lift from the 39th to 40th floor, so no prblem getting in or out with luggage. Service was outstanding, getting to the room the first time a bit confusing... BUT, will definitely put this property as my favorite place to stay in Chicago.

We chose this hotel because it was on the 40th floor and wanted the view. We were not disappointed! The huge window overlooked the city. It was fantastic. The room itself was very roomy; the sheets smelled so clean and the bed was really, really comfortable! The TV and key were old school and the couches were not brand new but none of these things detracted […] from our stay at the hotel. The view, the size of the room, the bed, the quietness: all those things made the visit for us. We only ended up paying ~$14 to park overnight in their garage. The concierge was really helpful in finding routes for us to get around the city. The breakfast foods were somewhat stale tasting, but we didn't book the hotel for the breakfast so it was no big deal. We were only a few blocks from the Willis Tower (and Giordano's pizza!) and the Rookery building. We were put in a room with two double beds when we arrived; I had booked a king room. The girl at the front desk had no problem running up a key to a new room for us and was really nice about it. We loved that it was not a huge hotel with lots of people coming and going from the rooms. We stayed on a Saturday night so the building itself was deserted. I was torn between saving money at a hotel much further from the city, and splurging a little to stay close. I am SO glad I splurged. The view from our window was the highlight of the room: we could see the entire city. We felt downright famous to journey up to the 40th floor of the financial building to access our room. Any questions or requests […] asked of the front desk staff were answered immediately. The room was squeaky-clean, safe and warm, and generally nothing less than what I was expecting for the price. The building and neighborhood were quite vacant when we arrived on the weekend, but packed and busy on the Monday we were there. In close (1 or 2 blocks) of various train lines, and easy taxi rides to bars or restaurants not located along main strips. We walked to and from Michigan Ave with ease: less than 20-25 minutes to Macy's or Millennium Park. I would recommend this hotel to ANYONE, especially for the value for what we paid for a weekend stay. Our time in Chicago would have been drastically different/less exciting if we hadn't been as close as we were to such a magnificent downtown area. This was a very nice hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much. It was overlooking the city and lake Michigan. At 40 floors up; there is no bad view. Even had a very nice breakfast! Not just the continental one we were expecting. Eggs, hash browns, sausage and bacon. Hotel staff was very nice. The only glitch was we prepaid for a king room. We checked […] in very late, and were assigned a double. (changed from an earIier assignment). We questioned this and produced our reservation information, and she changed our room to the king we bought immediately. While we had a city view reservation, we were given a lake view instead. Pays to bring all the paperwork along! We will be going back and for more than one night next time. The hotel is right next to the metra and the CTA (Lasalle Street Station) for those who are smart and leave the car behind as we will be doing in the future. We chose this hotel based on the Megabus stop (about 4 blocks) and ability to hike to the museums (about 1.5 miles or bus 3 blocks away), close subway/el access, plus a good weekend rate. We had a good buffet breakfast on Friday with eggs and bacon, etc. On Saturday and Sunday, just bagels, muffins, and cereal. The staff we dealt with were wonderful. […] The actual room was great - large, clean, and quiet. Finding your way around the building has the potential to confuse you the first go round. After that it was fine. You have to transfer elevators, but it was still faster than many hotel elevators I have been on. You are in a financial district, and on weekends, they kind of roll up the sidewalk for a couple of blocks around the building. We hiked down to the Magnificent Mile and had a great time. We stayed @ the Buckingham this past weekend. It was very nice, good location & very clean and spacious room. The "L" was a little noisy, however, not terribly bad. I was a bit disappointed, as I woke up early on Saturday morning and headed down to the gym for a work out, in what looked to be a very nice athletic club, however, the gym itself did not […] open until 9:00am, in fact, the power was cut, so that you could not even use the machines. Really great views of the city. Right in the heart of downtown. Really really nice hotel.

Exceptional value for great location, staff friendlyness, and outstanding room quality.

When I booked I didn´t realize it was so good and complete hotel. Marvelous gym. Very well localized. Nice staff always concerned. The breakfast included pays back. Surely I would book again!

If you are expecting a conventional hotel, this is not your cup of tea. But, if you want a great hotel with excellent amenities in a quiet, cozy environment, with beautiful views of Chicago from the 40th floor, all for a reasonable price, then this is defeinitely what you want. I saw some comenting about the vicinity to trains, etc., but I never heard […] a thing, let alone the train keeping me awake at night. Be aware that you have to use your RF badge to get in and out of the lobby every time and that you will need to switch elevators on the 39th floor to get to the 40th floor, where the rooms are. The immemdiate neighborhood is not where you would go for a stroll, but walk 2 blocks and you are on S. Lasalle, and there are very close train stations, including one to Midway and to O'Hare. I did not use the pool / spa / gym, but they looked pretty good. To get anything better or even equivalent in Chicago, you will have pay dearly. The room service/housekeeing is not available round the clock. But, the rooms are well-kept and clean, with very comfortable beds. The breakfast is good. Oh, and the coffee is very good as well. This hotel provides a good value for a great room. It includes the use of a state-of-the-art health club. While its location in Chicago's financial district, on the south side of the Loop, may be a bit far for some to areas north of the Loop, public transportation is readily available. Wonderful hotel located in the Financial District close to multiple ‘El’ lines. The hotel itself is located on the 40th floor of an office building so you have spectacular views (we had an unobstructed view of a fireworks show at the Navy Pier one night). There are only 20 something rooms, no one above you so you can enjoy a very quiet stay. Breakfast […] was modest but served its purpose well. The fitness club (one of the main reasons we picked this hotel) was spectacular! Open 7 days a week, we had some wonderful workouts during our stay. Room was very comfortable, bath products (Aveda!!!!) were wonderful, bathrobes in your room, and the view was just beautiful. Front desk staff very helpful in providing directions to local sites. Yes, the elevators take a little practice making sure you are on the right bank and transfer, BUT, you get a little privacy/security with the elevator transfers and we laughed that we are staying at an Athletic Club anyway! The hotel is in a great location just 1/2 a block from a loop station on the southern end of downtown and plenty of taxis. The hotel offers a free continental breakfast in the lounge. The staff was very helpful, even if the issue or request was not their job. They had free wifi in the rooms and computer access in the lounge. I've stayed in 15 different hotels in Chicago and this ranks at the top of the list. Great views, spacious, and very luxurious.

First of all I want to say that the service in this hotel is spectacular. Staff is wonderful; rooms are huge, clean, safe, comfortable and have incredible views; the athletic club is first-class. However the hotel itself is housed within a financial offices building in the financial district of Chicago. This means that the hotel itself is not stand […] alone and it can be confusing to find. However the parking garage below the building is convenient and it's right next to 2 train stops and the metra - easily accessible. Again the staff is super helpful, so use them if you get lost finding the parking garage, or if you're confused about which elevators to use to find the health club. It's definitely a different experience wearing your lazy workout clothes in an elevator full of business casual! Also just beware that the financial district doesn't have much going on after work hours, so if you're looking for a late night meal, there aren't many options within walking distance. I was looking for a semi-luxurious one-night stay in a nice hotel right off the subway from the airport, and I got all that and some more staying here. I stayed here while I was attending a conference nearby because this hotel was much cheaper and had more ammenities. The room was fairly large and had a large bathroom. There were many upscale touches to the room, but it seemed a bit worn. The fitness center, breakfast, and lounge were great. I thought it was a neat tucked away place to stay. The only […] problem was lack of signs. To get from the parking area to the hotel is not at all obvious. I called the building security twice for directions while I was in the parking area and it still took me a long time to figure out where I was supposed to go. Similarly, once you are in the building it's another maze to get to the front desk and yet another maze to get to your room or the fitness area. Once you get the directions figured out it is a great place to stay. Just keep asking the security guards for directions and you'll be fine. There are only a few guest rooms in the hotel, so it has a more personal feel than a huge brand name hotel. I would stay here again if I were in the area. Uzziniet vairāk

the entire hotel is on the 40th floor....if you have business with any of the exchanges ...perfect especially the CBOE, never have to leave the building....you get access to the health club on the 3rd floor which is first rate...it is NOT a 4 star, 3.5 is stretching it....

The room was very nice, view great, 40th floor, pool closed on sundays during summer but very nice club. I used it on monday morning. The continental breakfast as other have said is lacking, should be called bagels and juice. Overall very nice, sheets were very nice.

I chose this 40th floor hotel because I wanted to make sure my room had a view, and I wasn't disappointed. I could see the Willis (Sears) Tower close by - very impressive view during a storm! Getting there wasn't too hard - I got off the subway (blue line) at LaSalle (runs straight there from O'Hare, 20 stops, which is very convenient), came up to the […] street to find myself in the middle of roadworks, but after picking my way across rubble I managed to find 400 S. LaSalle just around the nearest corner. [This is the only downside - it's not easy to spot when you first emerge from underground.] Inside the building you just follow signs to "Hotel Reception" which is on the first floor (24 hour front desk), and they give you a 'key card' to enter the secure area (where the elevators are). After that it's *very* simple - you go to 39th floor then transfer to black elevators to reach 40th. Hotel was very quiet and well-maintained, with *great* breakfast (cereal, juice, coffee, bagels, etc.) and the people working there were all very kind and helpful. Minibar was fun too (and useful to keep things cool). Highly recommended if you want to enjoy peace and quiet, like your room to have a view, and don't mind being in a location (financial area) that's a little empty at night. Uzziniet vairāk

I was interested in the hotel primarily because of the workout facilities, but unfortunately, the gym was less nice than many higher-end hotels. Not bad, just not great.

I really enjoyed this hotel. The room was very nice and comfortable with an awesome view of the loop and the lake. The hotel is right above the 'L stop in the loop, so the location is great for getting around the city. Access to the fitness center and swimming pool is great. I will try to stay there in the future.

This hotel is very interesting. It occupies the top floor of an office building. As a result of this, the check-in, parking, finding, going up (and up then up again), etc procedure are a little clumsy. All that clumsiness (which considering they only have 21 rooms is managed expertly) was worth it once we got into our room! The room, a standard room, […] is spacious and had a fabulous view. We had a north view with Willis tower on the right and the lake on the left, and at 40 floors up, it's impressive. The room was also very quiet. With only 21 rooms at the property, even at capacity, this place would not be noisy. Our stay was a Saturday, so I would imagine that considering this hotel is located in an office building near the Chicago Board of Trade, it might be a little noisy during the week, but I can't comment on that. The bathroom was spacious with a deep tub and separate toilet room. The "hall" of the room had a wet bar but no fridge or microwave. Opposite the wet bar was another counter with the coffee maker (pretty good coffee) and some counter space we used to hold a cooler. The bed was comfortable, and while the El is below you, you only barely hear it if you really try (remember how high up you are). The "athletic" club is an executive club located on the 3rd floor of the building, was only open till 6 on Saturday and was closed on Sunday. We were able to get some use out of it, and it was very nice. Would have been very disappointed if it had been closed the entire time were there (i.e. if we had checked in after 6 and only then maybe had Sunday - club claims seasonal hours on Sundays). The travel procedure to the club is similar to the parking, involving three elevators. I don't think the club and its amenities are well designed for kids, as we don't have any, but you may want to call and find if kid friendly. The parking garage (oh yeah, they say it's $32 / day - we only paid $21 - not well marked with accurate pricing) isn't well marked where you need Uzziniet vairāk

My wife and I stopped through Chicago for one night on our way back to Atlanta. We stumbled upon this hotel and decided to give it a try. It was great! Finding it was a little tricky.....our GPS took us right to the front door, but we had to call to find out where the parking deck was. Once we parked, it was a little troublesome getting to the front […] desk, as the valet wasn't there at the time. Obviously, the valet parking would have made things easier. Everyone we encountered that worked for the BAC was wonderful. We checked in about an hour early and our room was ready. You do have to transfer elevators to get to the 40th floor, but it's really not a big deal. The room was spacious and comfortable and the view was just amazing. We were facing towards Lake Michigan, with the Buckingham Fountain right in front of us. But when you are 40 floors up, any direction has a great view. We were only there for a night, but the hotel was very close to the SkyDeck and some GREAT chicago deep-dish pizza. We went to the Field museum, which was not within walking distance, but the concierge was helpful in telling us the best way to get there (by car and by the train). The only problem we had was finding the actual athletic club. We wanted to take a swim, so we went to the 3rd floor. However, we were unknowingly on the wrong side of the 3rd floor, with a bunch of offices. This isn't clearly specified in their welcome packet, but again, the concierge was very helpful telling us how to get there. Once we were there, AMAZING! Th pool was huge and a nice cool (but not cold) temperature. The spa was enormous and relaxing. There is a giant "relax" room with a tv and couches around the perimeter. We only wanted to swim so we didn't try any of the other work out related things, but it was all very nice. One thing that was a little strange.....the hotel is on the 40th floor of an office building. Staff was not attentive, keeping breakfast supplies whole: Had to request regular coffee be refilled / brewed each morning. Had to request spoons on two mornings.
