Hotel accommodations were great. The room was very nice and spacious. We would have liked something closer to town. The restaraunt served delicious meals but it was a little too upscale for our taste. Overall, a good place to stay.

I absolutely love this place, it is very clean and staff are very friendly along with great location to visit surrounding towns. Had real problems finding this hotel. Tried to ph but the number on the website doesn't work. this need to be updated as do instructions to get there using sat nav. Bed is two units together, needs a toppa pad to cover the joint.Staff v obliging, very nice food.

The rooms were a little in need of an upgrade - instead of a shower screen there was a curtain which was sucked in and a nuisance when having a shower. Staff were first rate and the efficiency was excellent. We had a couple of bulbs which needed replacing in our room, it was done immediately when brought to the attention of the staff. The welcome and the service were exellent. The food was of high quality, the only thing that I found fault with was the bed. Its large enough but very hard and quite uncomfortable. A good materess would make this a great hotel

"Charming" is a good word for this hotel. It is an older property, and shows it a little around the edges, but it is clean and the staff were very helpfull. It is across the river from town in a quiet location. It would make a great location for a wedding

The hotel was very nice, staff were friendly. but I was very saddened by the fact that despite being advertised as a 4star hotel with a good resturant, that there seemed to be very little awareness of the needs of guests with specific dietry needs...a member of staff told me "its been about 18 months since we have had a vegetarian here"...it obviously […] shows.... by lack of the sense of awareness show by various staff members.I raised my concerns on several occasions, but on leaving i(after setting my bill) explaned how dissappointed I was.I was told that the Manager would contact me ....a week later..no news... i wouldnt want to return to this hotel! This is a very pleasant well maintained hotel outside of the city. The excellent restaurant has a very good value table d'hote menu of €25. WE received a warm welcome and found the service good. The hotel has recently been painted and has a fresh feel to it. The large glass dining area gives an old-world ambience which we liked especially. is excellent […] with Decor is a bit mixed. Our bedroom was an excellent size but the furniture did not fit in with a house hotel of this quality. Although perfectly functional, it had a prefabricated IKEA feel to it. However given the reasonable price this was a small issue and more authentic antique furniture would doubtlessly cause the price to be considerably higher. Less acceptable were the matrasses which were distinctly average and not what one would expect nowadays in a hotel of this quality. The beds also come with blankets without a duvet option. Nonetheless we slept well so overall no complaints. The main issue in relation to the hotel comes down to location. It is only suitable for a Waterford city stay for someone travelling by car as it is over a mile to get there. Even then there are more convenient options – however for peace and quiet in a semi-rural location it is a very good choice. Uzziniet vairāk

Lovely clean friendly hotel which was very welcoming after a long trip. Fantastic food with relaxing local live music playing in the background. Would not hesitate to stay there again, great value for money.

During my visit to the Athenaeum House Hotel I found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. It stated a dressing gown would be in the room but none available and I found the bed was splitting in the center not joined properly, out side on window ledge there was a lot of cigarette butts which should have been cleaned away,We ordered breakfast […] to our room and it arrived on time but cold with no napkins or salt ect. the tray was lined with paper napkins, I feel ther should be a tray cover or linen at least covering tray... Our stay in this property was very brief. We checked in at 6pm and checked out the following morning at 8am. It would be unfair of us to comment on any of the hotels facilities as we just slept in our rooms and left as we had a very early stat the following morning. The decor of the Hotel Entrance was lovely, the restaurant seemed very smart and there […] were a few guests enjoying some drinks in what seemed like a lovely library just off the main reception area. All I can comment on is what we experienced in our rooms. The corridor to our rooms had a very distinct damp smell, whilst no damp could be seen and the carpeting and wallpaper seemed to be in good order for such an old building, the smell was strong to me. The rooms were quite big with all the necessary provisions, i.e hairdryer, tea/coffee etc, However the bed cover was dirty and the bed was quite uncomfortable, the mattress sagged and it was hard for us to get comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the shower was fantastic, great pressure and loads of hot water only downside was that it was not seperate, ie, it was in the bath and you had to cope with the shower curtin billowing in on you as you showered. The grout between several tiles had cracked and worn away giving an uncared for look to the otherwise grand bathroom. Our rooms overlooked the carpark which was a pity as there seemed to be a lovely garden view from the other side of the hotel. We had read the reviews and expected what we experienced, it was a rush booking and we were only using the Hotel as a place to sleep and to be ready for the next morning as we had an early start. Excellent quick Check-in with nice friendly gentleman. Love the jelly beans tyvm. Lovely staff in restuarant & bar who constantly ensure that you are ok. Food absolutely outstanding. Gorgeous views from both room & gardens where you can sit, eat, drink & smoke. Bit of a long walk to get into city centre so car or taxi's required. Ok going in as it's […] downhill but coming back a killer. Unfortunately there is one complaint, chambermaid left no towels in room & had to go looking for someone to get me them but no-one on reception so ended up asking young lad in the bar for assistance. Also didn't look like a duster was used to wipe down sideboard as it was sticky from where I'd brought my drink back from bar, In saying that I would highly recommend this hotel to family, friends & anyone interested in travelling to Waterford. We booked this hotel for a wedding anniversary getaway. It fit the bill quite well - nice, friendly and relaxing atmosphere, with welcoming and professional staff. Rooms could use some light updating / modernisation, otherwise this is a very good hotel.

We stayed at the Athenaeum for 2 nights in order to attend a family event nearby. We only chose this hotel because of its proximity to the event, however it was a pleasure to stay in, the staff were extremely friendly and could not do enough for you. Hotel is very nicely decorated, very clean and there was plenty of parking outside. Only little gripe […] was that my room was on lower ground floor which was a little dark but as I wasn't in the room much this didnt matter. My sister and dad stayed here also and they ate in the restuarant both days and could not fault it. The road up to the hotel isn't great and it is a little far out of town, however the views from the hotel terrace across to Waterford are lovely and it's a nice spot for a walk etc. I would stay again if the need arose - we normally stay with family members in the area. The Hotel was difficult to find until you found the R.R. station. It didn't help that the local people we asked for directions didn't know where the R.R. station was. The room was tired and they pushed 2 very hard twin beds together to appear as a king. Lightd needed to be replaced and the bath facet was broken.
