It was very nice. The only problem is the parking down below is only one way, so it's very hard to get in and out. Other than that it was great.

Hotel was what you would expect for the cheap rate, but I was very disappointed in the breakfast. All it was was a loaf of bread with a toaster next to it and some jelly you could put on top...nothing else. Also, it was extremely noisy in the morning from all the garbage trucks picking stuff up. Hotel was good for what we needed, a place to crash and walking distance to beach and boardwalk....However even though we prepaid thru Hotels.com the hotel tried to charge us again as we checked out!...overall not bad.

Perfect location to everything we needed in a days worth of fun. Especially important that it was quiet enough at night to sleep. I wanted to pay for a late checkout option but they wouldn't let me because of full capacity and that was kind of annoying, and they didn't have a toddler bed as advertised, but they do have rollaways. Overall good.

The man at the desk very friendly, location handy. I requested a upstairs floor as I had read the reviews about the downstairs room and was disappointed to not get one. And it was so noisy you could hear the upstairs people walking around, we told the man at the desk and he said what do you expect for a older building we only stayed one night and that […] night the people upstairs where so noisy, drunk and heard them spewing up. A nice motel, with good size clean rooms with tv, fridge and microwave. It has a small carpark at the front and a second carpark at the back which is linked by a staircase. It was exactly as expected...the room was small but the location was great...right across from the ocean and Boardwalk!

Hotel manager was less than helpful.Our tv didn't work and the room had a funky urine smell. Parking was limited and the breakfast and coffee was all set up..but the door remained locked?

The location is excellellent. It's clean and quiet, and would stay there again.

Bad Wi Fi service, Not up to the level of my expectations. Tired and a needing a facelift. Pool area was very dirty. Very average or poor continental breakfast

terrrible hotel experience. the staff was uninterested in making our stay enjoyable and no one from housekeeping showed up for work - so no clean room! the location was great, but not good enough that we would ever stay there again! the person at the desk was not at all helpful and was actually quite rude.

This is a "no frills" hotel which was fine in meeting my needs for this particular trip. I drove past the hotel on my first attempt and as it is on a one-way street getting back was a bit of a pain. Luckily, I had been to Santa Cruz before so I was able to navigate around. Could be a little tricky for first-timers. No coffeepot which was disappointing. Breakfast consisted of one cold cereal, english muffins, peanut butter (from a lg jar), OJ, and packaged danish. Coffee was in the lobby with powdered creamer (not my favorite but it worked). Hotel is right across from the beach on the Boardwalk which is very convenient but crazy on the weekend. This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. The room was clean and comfortable. We were on the bottom floor, and heard no one upstairs. It was stormy outside, and the room was so well insulated that we didn't even need the heater. The shower head is mounted high so that my tall son didn't have to slouch. We booked a one night stay in off season and it was perfect. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We walked to the wharf for dinner. It is an older place as others on Beach St. but very comfortable.

Nice hotel. Very clean and looks newly remodeled. The bed was very comfortable. Parking is tight, but everything is in that area. Breakfast was okay.

This hotel was a pleasure to stay at. The staff was helpful and friendly. S.Cruz has such abysmally dismal accomodations yet this one is in excellent condition. The parking isn't so good, but such is the beach flats area. This was a relief to find after such disappointment with several other same priced places in S.C. THe location was perfect. The night staff was very nice. The guy that worked the front desk in the morning.....well he could use some customer service skills. Said that because I booked on Hotels.com, I didn't get a choice in upstairs or downstairs room. And they didn't have any open rooms before 3. I had friends visiting the area and we decided to hit the boardwalk for their clam chowder bake off. I stayed here previously so we ended up booking two rooms here. Luckily we did ahead of time because the entire area seemed to get booked up. The only downside of this would probably be a bit more noise from guests walking to/from their rooms but really, […] I'm not bothered by it and I can pretty much sleep through anything. As before, our rooms were clean, and the service was friendly and professional. Well, we weren't expecting 5-star concierge service, just the basics and we got just that. nice location, very clean the only complain is that our SUV was parked underground and it got water stains from the pipes leaking on the top of the garage we took it to the carwash and they didn't come off :(

Very comfy bed and extra pillows. Genleman at front desk very nice and accomodating. Very quiet and peaceful surroundings. The only negative was there wasn't much of an ocean view...but right across the street from the boardwalk and beach. Will stay here again.

Thought Boardwalk would be open on weekends on off-season (Feb. 2012), but it wasn't. Hotel is close to pier with shops and restaurants. Loved to watch the surfers! & volleyball players! Took day trip to Monterey & Carmel just 1 hour along the coast. We had a wonderful experience!

Walls are paper thin. Busy area. Front desk was not very helpful with late night noisy guests.

We had a fantastic trip to Santa Cruz. This hotel is in a fantastic location and walking distance to lots of great food, shopping and entertainment. The front desk staff was outstanding and the rooms were very clean. We are already planning another trip back and plan to stay here agian.

Excellent location. Free parking and walk to the Boardwalk and Wharf. Place includes a free continental breakfast. Skip it unless you are really, really hungry. Plenty of electrical outlets for all your electronic needs. Friendly staff. Enjoyed waking up each morning listening to the waves.

Great rates for a hotel right where all the action is. Clean rooms, everything comfortable and functioning. The only reason it's so well priced that I can think of is that it's a bit dated - but who cares? Definitely recommend.

The shower as not working and no one was in the office/breakfast room at 7:00 am to tell about the problem.

I've been visiting the Santa Cruz Boardwalk for years now and when a friend from overseas said they wanted to pay a visit I decided to rent a room rather than stay with local friends. I knew I wanted to stay near the boardwalk and figured I might possibly walk to the downtown area so after checking out various spots on hotels,com I decided to give this […] place a try. I was super surprised to find out that the Coastview kind of lives up to its name! I didn't really have a coastal view but was really happy to be able to simply walk across the street to the arcade - actually, my boyfriend was the one that was simply ecstatic. Just walking out the door and seeing the sunset was great, especially with the palms lining Beach Street and the wharf nearby as well, In the end, my friends decided to flake out on us, but we made the most of our Sun/Mon weekend despite the cooler weather. We arrived in Santa Cruz around 2pm and like the information said, check-in was not until 3pm so our room wasn't ready. This was not a problem since we simply parked the car and crossed the street to enjoy the boardwalk's indoor offerings. Checking in was no issue. I didn't have a credit card to put down for incidentals and security but they lowered the listed $200 fee for us to $100. Getting it back was no problem the next morning. The woman that helped us was very nice and friendly. Yes, the parking lot is a little tight, but no problem there for my full sized car. It would help if other drivers would think about pulling all the way forward rather than leave their tail-ends hanging out. As far as the noise that people mentioned, we really weren't disturbed by anything. Perhaps it was because it was off season (mid-Nov). There were less people around but the parking lot spaces were fully taken up by other guests in the evening. The room itself was clean as was the bathroom. Wow it's not like this is a grade A hotel but its not a dump either... Very clean rooms upgraded granite in bathroom and sink... It had dish TV... We were allowed to keep our car park there the next day so we could go to the boardwalk.. staff was friendly...It was awesome and I will be staying there again...

The hotel was okay. No coffee pot, did have microwave and refrigerator. Room was fairly small, but clean. About 3 blocks from the wharf, right across the street from the boardwalk. Did not try the breakfast, so cannot comment.

This hotel is conveniently located just down the block from the Santa Cruz boardwalk and directly across the street from a lovely beach. Plus, it is a very short walk to the Santa Cruz Pier and many wonderful shops and restaurants. The staff was welcoming and friendly and our room was clean and comfortable. We will stay here again.

Stayed last weekend for a wedding at Cocoanut Grove - right across the street! Also just across the street is the beach and the Wharf. So the best feature is the location, and it's great for families for a short stay. We booked a single king. Not a huge room but fine for our needs. Brought our 18 month daughter, and there was good enough room to set […] up her pack-n-play. Small fridge and microwave were convenient. Room had been remodeled and was very clean. Noise was a small issue - could hear muffled talking thru the walls, people pounding down the exterior hallway/walkway past the room, and noisy people in the parking area or street in front of the motel. This Motel is ideally located next to the boardwalk. Unfortunately, the WiFi connection is very bad and we had to go to the reception outside looking for signal.

This hotel is definitely worth the price for what you are paying. It has a great location... right across from the Arcade & Boardwalk! I was a little skeptical at first, but when I got there, the room was a lot better than I had expected. It was well kept & the appliances were new/updated. The only thing, I didn't really like was the worn out mattresses […] that you could feel the springs poking out, but you'll manage to fall asleep..hehe. And, the other thing is parking. Parking is VERY limited!!! I knocked off a star for those two items. The staff was very friendly & helpful though! Great location!!. On the boardwalk! Had room on second floor on the corner with 2 large windows--nice view. Clean room, layout a little strange but spacious. Parking very tight, glad we got there early to back into space. FLAVORED COFFEE for breakfast--nice treat!

No coffee in rooms which these days is unbelievable. No coffee even available at the front desk until 8:00a.m. Most lodging offer coffee and Continental beginning at 7:00 a.m. Beds were hard as rocks; we all (both familes-2 rooms) had sore sholders, etc. next day. Very expensive for a grotty, old fshioned motel - but the locatiion is superb. My idea woudl be to stay at a better/ cheaper hotel off the beach at the back of the town. The beach area or the town is pretty small ,and it is easy to walk to the beach from anywhere. ctually had a great stay in the area, bit the hotel is not great in any department other […] thanit;s location - oh it does have good parking and free internet, the breakfast was just about ok. My family and I had a great stay at the Coastview Inn. Friendly staff. Right across the street from the Boardwalk. Walking distance from everything. The room was very clean and comfortable. We will definately stay here again.
