Astoria Galilee Hotel — Tiberias

It was a little difficult to find and get to, but a wonderful place to stay. Breakfast was excellent and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It would be helpful to post some clear directions on the website.

It's an old hotel in an old city so enjoy!

The Astoria Galilee is a perfectly decent and comfortable hotel and offers a few features above its price range. Clean rooms, good breakfast, nice pool area. Better for the more independent type of tourist. Excellent base for touring theGalilee.

When I arrived to the hotel it looked worse than a prison looks, the hotel staff were very nasty and did not want to satisfy me , the room looked awful and disgusting the room was smelling and the carpet was extremely bad the wools were moldy and the bath room and shower were broken, this was the worst hotel I’ve ever seen, and paid full price. The lobby presented a nice view with high hopes. We discovered the rooms a little small (although fairly normal by European standards). Our biggest issue was with the bed linens: having only a flat sheet against the mattress (no mattress pad) , the person making the bed tucked in the bottom, meaning that the top of the sheet couldn't be tucked in. As […] a result, the sheet pulled out each night. My other beef is that the carpet desperately needed to be cleaned....my feet felt like it was sticking to the carpet. Note to housekeeping: if you see a dirty sheet or pillowcase, change it!! The bathroom was adequate, although having some shampoo would have been nice (I brought my own). This hotel was extremely basic. It sufficed for the night, but I would have preferred better accommodation for a longer stay. The hotel is not near to any restaurants or interesting sights/activities. It's a bit of a drive to the promenade and other activities. There is a nice-ish pool. The buffet was so-so and the head waiter kept asking what room […] I was in as if he didn't believe that I was staying at the hotel. I was told that this hotel is next to the water and that's why I made reservations there. The beds are very low and have very thin covers. Bottem line, I left that hotel and went to a diffrent hotel. I would appreciate to get back my money. Thanks in advace

The hotel door locks, the toilet flushes, etc., but in terms of quality it is not what you would expect if you reserve a three-star hotel. It is a converted youth hostel, and the hallways, room furnishings, bathroom facilities, etc. have seen a lot of wear. Hotel Astoria is a great inexpensive European hotel. The rooms were clean, the pool refreshing, and the breakfast expansive. Having a car is a must, as it is a hike up from the shore. It is not luxurious, but perfect for the budget conscious traveller.

Rooms were basic, but clean and comfortable. The location is not on the beach but for a quick stop in Tiberias it was fine. The breakfast was varied and very satisfying. The service was also very good.

Hôtel particulièrement sale (3 bouteilles vides de vodka dans le placard de la chambre) et bruyant avec des groupes qui font la fête jusqu'aux heures tardives de la nuit empêchant de dormir tranquillement. La climatisation n'est pas réglable laissant le choix entre une température de 15° ou 39°. Heureusement la chambre et la salle d'eau sont spacieuses. La […] piscine est occupée à toute heure par des cours de natation pour des enfants extérieurs à l'hôtel ne laissant que très peu de place pour la baignade ludique. Je n'ai vu personne (mis à part nous) se doucher avant d'y entrer malgré un maître nageur présent ! Le petit déjeuner typiquement israélien (salade, œufs, omelette,...) ne propose pas de lait chaud n aucune viennoiserie. Pour le prix, ajoutez quelques euros et préférez les hôtels proches du lac ! Lausiger Service, unzeitgemässe Einrichtung der Zimmer, sehr kleines Bad, kaum Verpflegungsmöglichkeit. Alles in allem: Gar nicht zu empfehlen.

Olimme lomalla Tiberiaksessa lokakuussa 2010 ja asuimme viikon Astoriassa. Meitä oli matkassa 3 henkilöä, huoneemme olivat vierekkäin ja niiden välissä oli kätevästi väliovi. Olimme hotelliin hyvin tyytyväisiä. Hinta/ laatu oli kohdallaan. Uima-allas oli todella mukava, kun lämmintä oli 37-42 C. Vuokrasimme auton jo lentokentältä ja se helpotti huomattavasti […] eri paikkoihin ja ympäristöön tutustumista. Iltaisin pieni kävelymatka hotellilta, Genesaretin järven rannalle, alas kaupunkiin toimi mukavasti ruokahalun herättäjänä. Kotien grilleistä tuli ihana ruoan tuoksu ilmoille. Takaisin ylös hotellille tulimme yleensä taksilla tai bussilla, jos emme jaksaneet kävellä. Suosittelemme hotellia kaikille, jotka eivät tarvitse ihan viimisen päälle luksusta asumiseltaan. Efter prisen var alt til fuld tilfredshed. Vi vidste at det var en lidt lang tur at gaa ned til vandet. Det var svaert at finde opkorslen til hotellet, men det lykkedes til sidst. Dejligt at swimmingpoolen var aaben, selv om det var november.

Hotelli sijaitsee hieman sivussa keskustassa, mutta jalkaisin pääsee hyvin esimerkiksi rantabulevardille. Hotellin varustetaso ja palvelut olivat hintaansa nähden kohdallaan. Aamiaspöytä oli tyypillinen juutalainen kosher, joten sen varaan ei kannata paljon laitaa odotuksia, mikäli on tottunut mannermaiseen aamiaiseen.
