Wonderful staff and phenomenal customer service, great facilities, excellent wi-fi, beautiful views, delicious breakfast, charming monkeys to keep you company on the verandah! I couldn't ask for more! And that says a lot because I travel ALL of the time (haven't slept at home for more than 10 nights this year) and have become very picky over time. Lovely […] neighborhood with a grocery store and taxi stand in easy walking distance, as well as a couple of restaurants. Slight warning: the restaurant they recommend down the street is, as they said, delicious but their caution that it is "a bit expensive" was the understatement of the year. Lovely accomadation with superb hosts in Bill & Sue the British owners. Location of the hotel was the main drawback. Although once we had become used to the area it seemed more comfortable. Breakfast very good and the open bar policy a huge bonus. Good place to stay for the more adventurous!!

After travelling to Copacabana, Ilha Grande, Paraty we finally arrived in Santa Teresa at Um Meia Tres. We were firstly shocked at how far up the hills the cab had to drive and he had great difficulty but once we arrived we were greeted by Bill and the beauty of the guest house. As there was three of us we had always experienced tight rooms but here it was very spacious, we felt we could have stayed longer as it was beautiful. The hosts (Bill and Sue) are English which was a great help and they were very friendly and easy going. This is a delightful Pousada in an unique and interesting area of Rio de Janeiro. Santa Teresa is very central to most of the interesting sights of Rio, and I couldn't think of a better place to stay. Bill and Sue, the owners are British Expats, and are wonderful hosts, with all kinds of great tips on things to do in Rio.
