Excellent standard of hotel; friendly staff and good food. The bar is a great meeting place and the hotel is ideal for access to the grandstand.

Five star quality at three star prices - I think this would sum up my experience here now. Although this hotel had no gym, swimming pool nor uniformed doorman, in those things that really matter - comfort, food and service - it was definitely first class. Notably, the breakfast offered a most extensive choice - even before enjoying fresh Manx kippers, […] both pastries and fresh fruit were available along with the usual cereals and fruit juices. The bedroom was tastefully decorated to modern standards and included grip rails and high toilet seat in the en suite for those less able bodied. An up-to-date and spacious lift served all floors The dinner menu was not over expensive and highly imaginative without being too fussy. I had a steak that was done precisely as per my request and very tender too. Many thanks to the excellent chef! The beer terrace at the front of the property afforded an elevated view of the sea down the side road on which this hotel was situated owing to a steep but fairly short uphill walk from the promenade. Being off the main traffic route meant that it was also reasonably quiet - perfect for the odd pre-dinner drink. Indeed the group of transport enthusiasts which I joined each day booked a meal together on the Sunday evening, which we all thoroughly enjoyed following a drink on the terrace. Of course being close to the promenade, this hotel is ideal for the reasonably frequent bus service connecting with the main shopping centre and calling close to the steam and electric railways. However, if you can't be bothered catching the bus to shop, there is a handy convenience store and cafe close by on the promenade. Altogether, I would not choose any other hotel for my stay in Douglas, as for me it must be perfect. Uzziniet vairāk
