This is a very nice hotel and the rooms, while small are nicely laid out and comfortable. There were a couple of items that would rate improvements. First, drop off, there really is no drop off and while the valets were attentive, you basically had to use the vallet (charge of $10 + tips). Awesome hotel with all the comforts of home. Fabulous modern decor and rooms with see through showers are remarkable. At that price its a STEAL..I highly recommend this hotel

Overall, a very nice hotel. The lobby area and room was chic, quirky and cool. The bed was amazing! The staff was courteous and helpful. We enjoyed our stay. My one negative is that their wifi was poor at best with my ipad in our room, although my son's iTouch worked fairly consistently. In the lobby/coffee bar area, it worked perfectly.

First time to Bakersfield, and we lucked out by choosing this quirky hotel. The service and condition of the hotel were first rate...the decorations different but charming. No concierge, but the valets were very helpful in restaurant recommendations and directions to every place we needed to go. The hotel is in walking distance to numerous antique malls, […] including one right across the street. Very modern, but no business center, although wi-fi is free throughout the hotel. I don't know much about Bakersfield, but I have to believe that this is THE place to be. We loved it here!

We stayed one night while visiting friends, and found the bed and room very comfortable. It's very stylish, clean, affordable, and well maintained and we'd return. The bathroom was rather dimly lit, we had only one hand towel, there was no remote for the TV and the safe was locked shut when we arrived, but when we called the desk about the towels and […] remote, someone responded almost immediately to rectify. The booming music and throngs of people in the bar on a Friday night precluded our having a nightcap there, but we couldn't hear the din in our room on the eighth floor. Uzziniet vairāk

No facilities to make your own coffee and coffee from the cafe was disgusting. Bed was like sleeping in a giant marshmallow, it just enveloped you. Room was large and would have been if it was serviced with two queen beds, not two doubles.

Needs to have a biz office on site.

I stayed at the Padre on a recent work related trip. It was absolutely wonderful! I think that bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I would have taken it home with me if I could have! Woderful hotel, can't wait to return!!!

My fist time staying here. The hotel is very swanky and has great deco. I enjoyed the up beat staff. My room was excellent plenty of space and a great bed. About the only thing I wasn't super happy about was the lighting in the bathroom, it was too dark, I had to shave by the window... lol. We highly recommend this hotel. We had to pick up kids from Woodward West Scooter Camp in Tehachapi. Coming from Santa Cruz area, we decided to stay in Bakersfield the night before end of camp. I have never been to downtown Bakersfield and neither had my husband. We chose Padre Hotel because it was the only boutique/non chain hotel in the area. What […] a great choice! We loved it. From the decor to the friendly staff, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The amenities on the ground floor were awesome. Being a Sunday, it was happy hour all day! The bartender made a smooth dirty martini and the appetizers were 50% off as were our drinks. Guests occupy floors 3-8. Stay on 5 or above because of the noise from the bar.

If you like down comforter and pillow and a memory foam mattress then this hotel is for you. It is a beautiful room and hotel is meticulously kept. As for me, allergy to feathers and my back was in pain from the mattress...very uncomfortable for me. I ended up sleeping on the floor which was no fun. Really enjoyed the Padre, the dining in the hotel was top-notch (we are from the SF Bay area, so my food standards are pretty high) and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The downtown neighborhood has some really interesting architecture, but not a whole lot of active businesses. However, in Bakersfield, apparently, nothing is very far away.

Cool, trendy decor meets historic building. I love the juxtaposition of styles. Bed was so comfy! Room was nice with modern amenities. Bottled water was only $3., food service reasonably priced, cafes were a good value too. Free WIFI and $10. for valet makes it a reasonably priced stay. I will be back!

This was a real surprise on a recent road trip in US . To be honest we didn't expect much it was just a one night stopover in a small town on way to Vegas but the padre was great ! Very stylish beautiful rooms , attentive staff and great restaurant .

We stayed here Christmas night on our way up from Orange County to Sonoma. We chose this hotel because we didn't want to stay in a best western off the freeway. We had a carload of gifts etc that we didn't want broken into. The Padre was located in kind of a run down area and we were still worried about our belongings being in the car because the valet […] parking lot was on the side of the building and dark with homeless people in the alley. We were surprised by the steep fee of 10 dollars for valet considering where our car would be parked overnight. But thankfully in the am nothing had happened to the car or our many gifts for the family that we hid with that trunk cover most cars have now. The staff was very nice. The room was fine....it's what you'd expect from a hotel in the middle of nowhere and a good price. I would not stay here for a vacation or any other reason just due to the location but if this same hotel were downtown LA or somewhere in a better location I would give it a shot again!! My wife is so picky when it comes to hotels. How glad I was that she loves this hotel and wouldn't mind staying again. The two restaurants (formal and the bar restaurant) are both good, and the morning coffee and pastry shop makes it great for not having to get all dressed up to go out and get a cup for the morning. Fabulous hotel at a GREAT price. Having grown up in Bakersfield, I can tell you that the Padre is THE best place to stay. The beds are heavenly and rooms are spectacular. Good job, The Padre... I'm really impressed! And if you're wondering where the locals go for a drink... it's The Padre.

I have to say The Padre Hotel far exceeded m expectations. My boyfriend and I had no real purpose for visiting the area other than I saw this hotel on hotels.com and thought it looked cool. So we took the 5 hour trip down and were incredibly pleased. The staff from the front desk, to the bartenders were all amazing and friendly. The hotel is incredible […] with all modern amenities, artwork, and perfectly blended architectural details. We didn't need to leave the building because it had everything...food, drinks, entertainment, coffee shop in the morning and an awesome outdoor patio area complete with sculptural fire pit. Beautiful. We had great bartenders with Sam and Mike that kept us laughing and filling our glasses. I had a snack at the bar, shrimp quesadillas, which I highly recommend. This was definitely the happening spot in town and all ages were welcome. We were dressed fairly casually but the weekend locals, definitely viewed this as a pick up spot. Lots of hot, trendy folks. We booked a room and had tickets to an event at the Fox a couple of blocks away. It was very convenient to walk and the hotel was beautiful. The noise was pretty bad, but to be expected. We had room 601 right off the elevator and drunk revelers were rowdy and loud until past 3 am. Did not complain because it was not just one guest.....it was every guest […] on the 6th floor screaming from the elevator until they reached their room! Overall this is the best place to stay in Bakersfield if you are on the young hip side. The drawbacks are a lot of rowdy twenty somethings, so the crowd is youthful and not of the sophisticated set. The other is that there is a club that pounds music until 2am, especially on the weekends. So if you are staying in a room anywhere near or above the club, […] you will hear the beats until the music stops. Ask for a room away from the club, that is your best bet. Another bothersome thing is that I asked for no bacon on my breakfast sandwich but I did not get a discount. I find that as a vegetarian if I ask for no meat, I should not pay for it. Lovely staff and very clean, comfortable room. Only downside is paying for valet parking if you come late at night and do not want to drive in circles finding a parking place.

My husband and I stayed here to attend a Christmas party. We were very impressed from the moment we stepped into the lobby. Every employee went out of their way to help and please. We were even allowed an early check in. The room (Maverick), was large and well appointed. The only downside was lighting. Not strong enough for applying makeup in the bathroom […] or bedroom. The bath had only a shower but it was beautiful with tiles that looked like wallpaper. Lovely feather bed and down comforter. The hotel was full of revelers but our room and corridor was quiet. The 40 winks room has a huge glass wall that looks into the shower and bathroom. Sheer curtain doesn't do much difference. No drawer space so only place to put clothes was the small closet. The "Maverick" room is worth paying more for because bathroom is private and there's more space (plus its a bigger room). No matter what room you get the beds are […] wonderful! I need to be in Bakersfield quite often for business. The Padre provides a mid-week refuge for me on these trips--and it hasn't failed me yet. Everything, I mean everything I have ordered at Farmacy (breakfast cafe) and Brimstone (sit-down dinner place) has been impressive and delicous. The rooms are very clean and cozy.

Hotel has a fashion style decoration, very modern but elegant at the same time. I really liked it and I paid a great price for it. Hotel has downstairs a small cafe where you can get breakfast or brunch. Parking is $10 per night, with valet parking included. The rooms are big, with plasma, comfort sofa, nice shower. Our real need was only for a place to sleep long enough to break up the long grind of I-5 between LA and the Bay Area, but chose to go out of our way a little bit to explore this intriguing hotel in downtown Bakersfield instead of settling for one of the "chain places" along the highway. The check-in/check-out was friendly, informative, and efficient. […] The room was very comfortable - especially the bed. Bed linens and bathroom amenities were all top quality. The flatscreen TV helped mitigate the potential for a cramped feeling in the desk area. There appears to be space designed for a mini-fridge, but our room did not have one. One aspect we found amusing, but some might find uncomfortable, relates to the room layout: The bed, glass-walled shower, and toilet are all directly "in a row". There is a semi-sheer curtain in the bedroom that can be drawn across one side of the shower, but doesn't really block visibility of the shower. Since the opposite side of the shower is also glass, with no curtain, the same is true for the bedroom and toilet. The patterned wall treatment in the corridors reflects Bakersfield's history of crude oil production. We found it interesting but a bit "overpowering" late at night after a long day of driving. Paid valet parking appears convenient, although we did not choose to use it. Street parking is available but a bit uncertain, given several nearby areas that do not allow overnight parking. We would have preferred free (or at least lower-cost) internet service. All in all, we had a very comfortable night in an interesting hotel; and would certainly not hesitate to choose it again for a future stay. Uzziniet vairāk

My stay at the Padre was great. I was in town for an event at the Fox Theater so it was very conveniently located (the theater is a block away). The decor is imaginitive and not cheap-looking. I ate at the Farmacy and the Brimstone. All meals were fantastic. The bar was lively at night. The room was quiet and very clean. My only complaint-- and it is […] a minor one-- is that the lighting in the bathroom is very dim. I planned to try something different with make-up but because of the dim lighting, I had to stick with what I know. Beautiful historical hotel with very nice contemporary refurbish, and great downtown location. My girlfriend and I were very pleased our stay here and will definitely return next time we are in the area. Only semi-complaint was the slow service in the farmacy cafe in the morning (understaffed).

I love the fact this hotel is "different" from the others, It's not your traditional hotel that you expect. The rooms are extremely clean and the bed is very comfortable. Service is outstanding and after multiple stays here, I've never had a bad experience. A must stay.

Very nice hotel, enjoyed all aspects of our stay. Would enjoy another stay.

This hotel was an absolute jem and exceded my expectations. The 40 winks room was a tad small, but adequate, and more than made up for it with the comfort of the king memory foam bed, topped with a down mattress pad and covered with a down comforter! Pure heaven, and the pillows were actually feather soft too. Best nights sleep in a long time. The shower […] was a suprise, since it's glass on both sides! If you're not alone, be sure and close the curtains on the bedroom side and keep the shower light on if you don't want to put on a show. It does give the small room a feeling of openness, so I see it was a clever design. Food was great too. Burgers on the rooftop, actually 2nd floor, outdoor lounge were tasty. Only complaint there was the invasion of earwigs!! ( pesky crawly bugs that love to destroy your flowers at night) Kind of everywhere on the stone floor near the outdoor firepit, so they convinced us to move inside to the other bar. What's up with that??! Downtown urban area on the 2nd floor? They are the bane of my garden back in CT, but never expected them here! Even our waitress seemed frustrated with them, so must be an ongoing problem in the area. But we didn't let the little buggers ruin our evening. At least we never saw any inside the hotel. Hotel was clean, people were nice.. The problem we had was we were on the 5th floor and right outside our window on both Friday and Saturday nights was aroof top night club that was going on until 2am with strobe lights, screaming, loud music etc. Once the night club shut down the partiers came to their rooms and continued to party until anout 4:30 […] am. Nicely renovated. Parking is across the street about 1/2 block away. Ice machines are Not located on every floor. Very clean room. Good Customer Service.
