Besides the small miscommunication between the hotel and hotels.com it was a very good stay. The hotel was in a good area, the service was great, and it was very clean. It's not a fancy hotel so don't expect too much; it's a great deal for visiting the city and we didn't spend too much time indoors. This is the 2nd time I stayed at Portobelo and have been impressed both times. The rooms are always clean. The rooms are quiet (I stayed in a room facing the street and had no issues with noise). The staff is very helpful (although not all speak any English). The surrounding location has a lot to choose from in terms of food (there's also a 7-eleven […] across the street). "Comfort is very affordable"
My recent stay for two nights at Portobelo was very satisfying. Hotel is conveniently located in downtown with plenty of free indoor parking. Hotel staff is very friendly, smiling and helping. The room size is adequate. Bedding and Mattress is comfortable. The room is very clean and provides LCD TV with surround sound system. Bathroom is clean. Restaurant […] is very appealing and food is excellent. Had a buffet breakfast for 85.00 pesos and every penny was worth. Highly recommend this hotel to Guadalajara Travelers. "The Portobello was great"
I arrived early, like 6am, and they allowed me to check in right then. Later that day I noticed they had some Hottub suites. I inquired about the difference in cost and asked if they had one available for the 2 nights I would be there. They said no problem, and allowed me to move my room to the nicer suite for a very modest charge.
