We were very pleased with the size of the rooms and the cleanliness.

With the included breakfast, the Marriott Residence Inn is the best value among the three big names in downtown Portsmouth.

LOVED this hotel!! I loved everything about it. The location was great, the staff was friendly, the rooms have everything you could need or want and the breakfast is incredible! I will definitely stay here again whenever I visit the Portsmouth area.

Clean, cozy and close to local attractions. Breakfast left a little to be desired but considering how close the stay was to local bakeries, etc. it definitely wasn't a deal-breaker.

My husband and I recently spent one night and found the accommodations to be very nice and the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The location is phenomenal, with all of downtown just outside the door. Will definetely visit again!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel just for a night to celebrate his 21st birthday. We stayed in a studio suite and for what I paid for it was definitely worth it! The bed was amazingly comfortable, the room was impeccable, and the distance from downtown to the hotel isn't even a 5 minute walk! The Page bar and grill is right next door to the hotel […] which is a great place to hangout, and we loved all the shops around the area. We ate definitely coming back over the summer time! This is the best experience I've had with Residence Inn. The staff was amazing - everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. The hotel appears brand new and has a large comfortable lobby. It's a great location, you can walk everywhere. We'll definitely stay here again!

I couldn't have been happier with my stay. I could live there. The accomodations and amenities were perfect. The breakfast delicious and the ability to have a coffee or tea station wonderful especially coming in from the cold weather. The fireplace added to the ambiance. Top notch customer service, excellent location, room was as clean as a whistle!! Bed was a bit hard but other than that everything was perfect.

We loved this hotel and it's proximity to downtown was perfect. Everything we wanted was within walking distance. They don't have free parking, which we wish we'd known before we went, but it wasn't too pricey. Otherwise, a fabulous hotel and we will be returning!

We have stayed at this hotel twice now and wouldn't stay anywhere else when we visit Portsmouth. It is new and modern. Rooms are clean and nicely decorated with spacious bathrooms and perfect little well equipped kitchens. Everyone is very friendly. There were many things about this hotel we really liked. Location, amenities, pleasant staff, breakfast. However, we did have a problem that never really got resolved. The room next door to us was really loud at 2am, we called the front desk and there was no answer. We went to the front dest and complained twice, but the music continued. We had a wonderful 3-night stay at this hotel in late December 2011, to rejuvenate after a busy Christmas season The rooms are HUGE and very well-appointed. Also exceptionally clean and well-maintained. Fantastic bed and linen, beautiful large windows, everything you could possibly need in the kitchen area and a modern, well-decorated and functioning […] bath. It was very quiet at night, and we slept well. We walked the Portsmouth downtown while there (twice), going into many shops, and enjoyed several local restaurants (great seafood!) It also has easy access to the beach and to Kittery, Maine, for lots of outlet shopping. The staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. They are pleased to welcome pets! (Treats!) They have warm, fresh-baked cookies in the afternoon! There are appetizers set out in the front lounge area in the evenings (on weekdays, I believe), and a VERY well-planned and stocked breakfast. It is a FULL breakfast-hot and cold; eggs, sausage or bacon, make-your-own waffles, bagels, danish, fruit cups, yogurt, oatmeal, cereals, juices... All with plenty available and followed by AMAZING coffee! I would recommend this hotel to anyone-there were older folks there, families with young children and couples like us with dogs in tow. Not exactly a vacation hotel, but great and convienent to Boston and NH mountains and Seacoast. Portsmouth great to kill some time. Usual nice Marriot service and rooms..., breakfast MUCH better than usual standard fare. Staff exceptionally great, worth the extra $40 over cheaper places.

Well-trained hotel staff and helpful personnel from the cleaning staff to the front desk. Breakfast bar had plentiful choices and staff worked hard to keep things refilled and the coffee flowing. I left my cell phone in the room by mistake during a hurried check-out to catch a plane - it was turned in to the front desk immediately. Nice, newish hotel adjacent to downtown Portsmouth. The staff was very courteous and well-mannered. Convenience of location was a priority for our stay and it was as advertised - just two blocks from the middle of downtown shops and restaurants. Great Hotel, great staff. We stayed at the Portsmouth Marriott Residence Inn while involved with a production at the nearby Music Hall. The staff are wonderful, always friendly and helpful. Great get away place! Awesome room, large room and bathroom. Portsmouth is a cute old city with lots to offer within walking distance of the hotel.

The friendly welcome at this hotel makes you feel right at home and our suite was very spacious and well equipped with a kitchen area, lounge, bedroom and large clean bathroom. The location is also ideal for exploring Portsmouth with the town centre and harbour only several minutes walk away. Parking is also easy with a pay car park opposite the hotel […] entrance. I was traveling on business and need to do something on the Saturday evening. The business center was closed, but all of the staff, especially the bellman did everything in their power to help me complete my task. They went above and beyond and it was noticed! My husband and I found the Residence Inn to be perfect for our overnight stay in Portsmouth. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We were very impressed that the Manager took time to talk to us and make us feel welcome. We were delighted with our room and could not fault the amenities and the decor. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

It was pricey and the rooms just didn't match up with the price. Dull decor that felt like a cookie cutter. The service was fine, clean, etc. Somehow expected a cheerier space.

Great staff, very friendly and helpful. The parking is a bit of an issue as you have to use public parking. This is especially an issue if you have more than one car as the fees can add up.

Practically brand new and very conveniently located. Parking is not included. The entry ramp is steep for elderly people with a number of bags in a cart, but fine for those who are physically OK.

This hotel is one of the best we've stayed in! The studio was spacious, clean and modern, the staff were all very friendly, the pool/exercise room was clean, breakfast was great and it was close to everything!

One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. Ever. For the price, it doesn't get much better. Studio unit easily accommodated our family unit of four. Immaculately clean, cheerful staff, decent breakfast buffet. Definitely staying here again.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The room was immaculate, as was the rest of the hotel and staff was ALWAYS friendly and helpful. Brand new hotel. Parking could be a problem if you return to hotel on a busy summer weekend night. The hotel does not operate or control a parking facility. They direct you to park in the city lot across street.
