Rachaels Dowry Bed and Breakfast — Baltimore

I love the decor and the whole place is very nicely maintained. Sweet place in general, great experience. Will come back again for sure!

My husband and I celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary in Baltimore and stayed at Rachaels Dowry in March of 2012. It was perfect in every way. Communication with Rachaels, both spoken and electronic, was friendly and helpful. We were met promptly once we arrived by Tish, then Jacob, then Norman. Our room was delightful. We could see the baseball […] stadium from our window - very cool. The walk to the Inner Harbor was only 15 minutes. Breakfast at Rachaels Dowry was sufficient and delicious. Of particular delight was that the cold food was nice and cold, and the hot food was nice and hot. It was delicious. Of note, Tish and the gang were kind enough to have our room ready hours early as per our request, and were so gracious. If we return to Baltimore, we will certainly stay at Rachaels Dowry. My husband and I spent our first married New Year's Eve here and loved every minute. The location is great -- near the Inner Harbor and Camden Yards -- and the room itself was beautifully decorated and comfortable. Great place to stay. The rooms were remarkably modern for a historic old house. Location is pretty good for access to the inner harbor area. Breakfast was always tasty, and the coffee was always fresh and hot. It is a fantastic alternative to big impersonal hotels.

My wife and I really had a wonderful time in Baltimore and we would highly recommend Rachael's Dowry to any couple looking for the best place to stay and visit Baltimore. You can walk to any place from there. Great host,lovely room,wonderful breakfast,just a great experience!

Rachaels Dowry is more than just a gem in the city of Baltimore and I hesitate to write review simply because I want to keep it to myself, but that is selfish and I know how helpful these reviews are. The proprietors have done the utmost job in restoring and refurbishing this 1798 home, it is absolutely gorgeous. On an historic residential street that […] is quiet, you can't even tell you're in the city hardly once you go down the street. it is so closely located to the convention center, and many many attractions. I like to walk so the short distance was perfect for me. For others, the public transportation sounded incredibly easy. Though this is an historic building, it is modernized so that the climate was always perfect there, despite the humidity the city was experiencing while I was visiting. The owners really want to make sure you are comfortable and happy. My room was perfect; comfortable bed, spacious, flat screen TV; bathroom was lovely with a huge tub and a nice shower as well. Absolutely loved the Inn. Great host, great food, wonderful house, perfect location.

Rachael's Dowry is a historic home in Baltimore, basically down the street from the convention center and the Inner Harbor. Inside, it has a completely historic feel, with a dining room, a lounge, and a little library. It's hard to describe but it feels as though you've entered an old mansion when you see the antique furniture and wooden banisters. […] Upstairs, my room (the Ella Virginia) was very spacious with my own separated bathroom. All the modern necessities like DirecTV and wifi are there. Tish, the owner, was very nice and made sure everything was perfect. The house was great, but she really made the stay feel like I was a welcome guest in a proper home rather than a faceless customer in a hotel. All in all, my stay was lovely. I would certainly recommend it if you're in Baltimore for a nice leisurely trip. The caveat is that since it is an old quiet house, I wouldn't recommend it for noisy families with lots of kids, or if you're in town to drink and party. Our plans to stay with friends changed at the last minute, and I was glad they did, because we booked a room at Rachaels Dowery and had a wonderful time being tourists in my husband's home town. We were close to the Harbor and the Babe Ruth house and a short walk to a free bus ride to all the sights. Tish was a wonderful hostess with a yummy breakfast […] waiting each morning. This bed and breakfast really felt like home away from home. Tish the B&B manager was an angel and the sweetest host. I couldn't recommend staying here more.

I must preface my review by stating that my wife and I had never stayed in a B&B before, and thus were unprepared for the kindness that was showed by our host, Letitia. She greeted us at the door, helped us carry our bags to our room, and then gave us the grand tour of the house. Letitia made us feel like we were personal guests in her home, and that […] we should feel like it was our home, too. Often times when you stay in a hotel you're just another paying customer, but this experience was different; my wife and I were made to feel like our comfort and happiness was foremost on the minds of our host. We were in town celebrating our anniversary; Letitia dropped off at our room a happy anniversary card welcoming us to the establishment, and she also baked us cookies! She and her brother (with whom she runs the B&B) gave us tips on where to eat and 'what to see' in the area. Our room was incredible, with a four-poster bed, a fireplace with an electronic fire (that looks so real it's almost better than the real thing), a beautiful ceramic-looking bowl that was actually a sink in a corner of the room, and an antique desk/drafting table. If we'd wanted to move into the room and stay for a while, we'd have everything we need! My favorite part was that through the window you can see the side of Oriole Park at Camden Yards (my wife didn't particularly care about this feature). My point is that you are incredibly close to all essential areas: Camden Yards (Orioles, baseball), M&T Bank Stadium (Ravens, football), the Edgar Allan Poe House, the Babe Ruth birthplace/museum, and the inner-harbor is just about a 10-minute walk. While that may seem far, it's a perfect distance for a walk after you've had a big seafood meal down in the harbor. The second "B," breakfast, was perhaps the most enjoyable part of our stay. Tucked into a tiny neighborhood between the ballpark and the Babe Ruth Museum is this delightful urban mansion that looks like a row house from the front street. The neighborhood is actually a lot better than you might expect, thanks to its relative isolation. The furnishings are beautiful and fitting for the period of the home, and the service could […] not be nicer. And unlike so many B&B oeprations, everything actually worked! Not sure how well it works with a car, I did not have one. But an easy walk to B&O Museum, UM Medical Complex, Ballpark and Stadium, Inner Harbor, Babe Ruth and Sports Lengends Museums (which I highly recommend as well). BIen fait! Uzziniet vairāk

Just a few blocks' walk to the UMMC, and parking is included in the cost of room. Excellent breakfast, coffee, and attention to detail. The owners are delightful.

Rachael's is a great combination of convenience, comfort and genuine hospitality. The B&B is on a quiet street steps from Camden Yard, and is an easy walk to the entire Harbor area. There are only a half dozen rooms, and mine had an incredibly comfortable old-school bed and tub, as well as perfect climate control and a modern shower. the location is perfect for a baseball game or the inner harbor. the room was beautiful and the bathroom was gorgeous. we had a lovely time. We will be back and would recommend this B&B to anyone.
