McKinley Grand Hotel

Dunno what everyone's complaining about; McKinley's a classy hotel with nice employees in a historic part of Canton. The upstairs halls could use more decor (but I don't sleep in the halls), but overall it's exquisite. The complementary breakfast is a nice gesture too. Plus, the main ballroom has a lot of educational photographs and info about Canton and Pres. McKinley. Canton itself is sleepy on weekends, but that means peaceful strolls and free street parking. P.S. I wish I could have justified buying a '77 Coupe de Ville (or any '80s luxoboxes) from the classic car showroom downstairs!

The room was a little dated but, given the relatively low price, something to be expected. A free buffet breakfast was included but it was terrible. My friend and I went down at least 45 minutes before breakfast was to end and there was virtually no food left. The waitress, in the meantime, was surly and not excited about having to go back to the kitchen and see if any more food was going to be brought out.

The lobby photos are fine, and the libby is fine when you arrive, but the moment you step on the elevators, you reslize the rest of the hotel is beat up, or outdated, including the rooms.

The service was fantastic and very accommodating. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. I was in room 810 and there was literally a ridge in the middle of the bed. I also would have preferred curtains that blocked out light coming from the entire window instead of only a portion of it. There was also zero material within the room to indicate what time the gym/pool/restaurant was open, nor information on who would deliver to the hotel.

The comp breakfast was embarrassing. The had a waffle bar that entry everyday, non edible oatmeal and hard boiled eggs...that was it. However the staff was amazing. I did eat dinner there one night and the food was real good. The room was so so and house keeping was slow.
