Aquarius on the Beach

I like the place but around the pool and tables outside need cleaning.

Location, price, condition and cleanliness good. Maybe because a parallel group happening was going on the service was very slow and did not spend attention. We ordered a pina colada which leads to the recommendation to better not order cocktails at this location.

The staff at the Aquarius on the Beach were amazing. I travelled from Canada and lost my cell phone and confirmations. The staff here welcomed me and assisted in contacting my family and airline. The hotel was beautiful and views of the ocean were out of this world. Wonderful 3 days.

This area and this resort are meant for more budget conscious travelers. As long as you understand this when booking you will enjoy your stay. The staff are very helpful and friendly and really are the reason for having a wonderful stay. The views and the beach access is very nice. But please know that as a 3 star location you should not expect high end amenities or property conditions. People who have given bad reviews seem to have “champagne taste on a beer budget”. Rooms are noisy, you can hear your neighbours and the lobby. Some things in your room may not work or are awkwardly set up - my toilet does not stop automatically, there’s no sink counter for toiletries, the air conditioner drips onto the table beneath it, etc. But again, if you understand and accept that places in this area are cheaper than Denarau Island for example, you should be able to overlook these things. If you are expecting more luxurious surroundings then be prepared to pay more elsewhere. It surprises me how many people don’t understand this concept. I had a lovely stay and for the price point and type of travel I was doing, it was wonderful.

The room was not clean and the bed is joined for 3/4 size un comfortable.

Right on the beach and a 15 minute ($15 FJ) taxi ride from airport. Perfect for our 24 hour layover in Nadi on our way back from New Zealand. Friendly staff. They were very accommodating in letting us check out of our room at the standard 10:00 am time but still let us use the facilities (beach, pool, showers, bar and restaurant) for several more hours while we waited until we could check in to our flight. They also have a locked luggage room. They arranged a taxi for us to and from the airport which was handy. Food at the restaurant was decent. Sheets were a little stained and tile floors could have used a mopping, but the pool and restaurant were clean. AC and ceiling fan in rooms was essential to stay cool in the high humidity typical of Fiji.

I ordered curry chicken and the dhal was off which I left in the bowl. I notified the waitress and the cashier at the bar but they didn't seem to want to do anything. Not wanting to make a fuss I paid for my meal and retired into my room.

For the price, Aquarius on the Beach isn't bad, you get what you pay for. If you can't afford the more expensive 4-5 star resorts, then we would highly recommend getting a 3 star "deluxe" room here. The standard and ocean view rooms aren't great - they are small and not well appointed and look very different from the photos. Air conditioning in all the rooms struggles a bit, I could see that the filter needed changing in both our rooms and perhaps they need to be re-gassed more often. Be aware that there is on-going construction next door which will be going at least until the end of 2020. The construction isn't imposing in as much as it provides a daily backdrop of "city-like" banging, yelling and machine noises. The food is good, the prices aren't bad, the bar is cute, the pool and pool area are nice. The staff are professional and friendly - especially Villi :) You can wander to adjoining resorts, hostels and cafes quite easily to 'mix up' your experience with food, drinks and entertainment, and the beach, although 'black sand' is actually quite nice and relaxed. Local Fijians like to bring their families here so it's very casual and informal. Nadi and Denarau are a $5 - $15 taxi ride away respectively - or a $1 - $2 bus which runs every 30 mins until around 6pm. Be careful of the prices of the local bottle store and general stores - prices are definitely inflated. We found the stores in Nadi - and even Denarau - to be a bit cheaper in general.
