Magnificent 6 Bedroom Cottage On The Water With Spectacular Water Views

There was 8 adults and 5 children in our group that stayed here.This home was very nice and modern.The area around it was beautiful. We enjoyed our time there. We did have issues. The first huge problem was that Jerry and Janet falsely advertised the home. When we rented this place we thought we were getting a 4 bedroom home with a big game room and a sun porch that had alot of parking and nice yard. The game room, parking . and yard was our biggest reasons for renting this place because we had children. 3 weeks or so before going on our vacation we see a couple pictures had changed we contact them to find out the original home had burned down. which we were never notified. When we arrived they were still working on the home so we had to wait 45 mins to check in. The parking was all along a busy narrow road and you were not allowed to use the drive way. which would have been great to have know since my father in law has a disability and has trouble walking. Which he did fall numerous times walking down the sloped walk way to the other door. The house was bigger so less lawn. oh what lawn? half of it was just seeded so we couldn't walk on it and there was glass around the yard so we had to be careful where we walked. The owners drove by on their jet skis almost everyday to check up on us. Then they had left their boat there so they had to come get that 2 days. So you're under watch. There was sheet rock dust all over the walls .they had locks on the thermostats so you couldn't adjust the temp so we would be cold during the day hot at night. They had no railings coming down the stairs. No GFI outlets near any water sources no outlet covers in one of the bedrooms. We had brown water for 2 days after it rained. They made custom bunk beds out of pine even the slats. The last day we were there my pregnant sister in law sat on the foot of the bed and one of the slats cracked and broke thank god she wasn't hurt. The slat where it broke was at a knot in the wood which you shouldn't use a soft would for slats. They didn't return part of our deposit because they said they had to bring in their builder to fix the bed, they tried to say our kids were fighting 5 mins after we were there and knocked the solar light off the railing nope my niece bumped it coming outside and Janet picked it up and said to Jerry shouldn't we glue theses things down.Piece of crap air hockey table that was broke when we arrived they said we broke it.

Our extended family enjoyed a wonderful reunion at this beautifully appointed home. Jerry and Janet thought of everything to make guests feel comfortable and welcomed, and they answered any questions we had immediately. The location was perfect, and we enjoyed watching the ships pass by from the large front porch. We have already booked a return visit for next year, as we all agreed that this house is truly a Wellesley Island gem.

The house was enjoyable on the inside all brand new from being rebuilt from the fire. The outside was in need of work. It was hard to get into Kayaks because the floating dock had a horrible old row boat on it. The yard needed work but that was due to construction. The owner has cameras placed on his big expensive boat that takes up the driveway that you are not allowed to use. I received a text on the third day of vacation from the owner threatening to throw us out of the house because we broke a rule about the driveway. Sorry! The cars were moved immediately and he asked to be called. I phoned him and he proceeded to yell at me on the phone for 3 minutes. I will express again he YELLED at me. This of course but a damper on our vacation for about 24 hours. I received my security deposit 35 days after check out. They said the check was in the mail and must have gotten lost. The owners were away at the time and had no banking information with them. I find this hard to believe with all our smart phones and computers. Wrong! My husband and I were VRBO owners for 5 years and I can assure you we would have done everything possible to get our renters their money. While staying at this house we wired a tenant money owed and paid the charge. This is how it should be done! Even if rule number 6 out of 20 was broken you don't need to YELL at someone. The location is nice. You may want to bring an umbrella for the tables at the dock, it is too hot to sit down there.

Janet and Jerry will be very nice to you before your stay but once you get into their rental things will change. First of all we had some of the same experiences as the previous reviewer Linda. It doesn't list in their description that you can't pull into their driveway even to unload. Once we got there the owners sent me a message saying they could see I had parked in their driveway, and they are afraid someone is going to hit their precious speed boat. The only reason I did pull in was to let my 83 year old mother out as she has trouble walking and couldn't make the walk down the uneven stone driveway, nor the slanted paved path on the other side of the house, and also to unload some of our very heavy bins of food. They have cameras and will check them then send you a message to "get out of their driveway immediately!" Also, I do not believe this house was up to code and they probably shouldn't have been allowed to rent it as there were no handrails on the stairs inside, and my elderly mother and sister with M.S. had a very hard time getting up and down the stairs without any railings. When we first arrived, there was a gauge in the wall in the mudroom, which we immediately took a picture of and reported to the owners, also there were finger prints all over the counters and fridge and hair and dirt all over the small rugs in hallways and bathrooms. We let the owners know that their house wasn't properly cleaned before we arrived by their cleaner and about the gauge in the wall. They ended up blaming the wall on us. When we turned on the faucet to the spa tub for the first time it leaked from the base, they said we turned it off too tight and blamed it on us (we couldn't have turned it off too tight as we had just once turned it on and it leaked). We reported the air hockey game broken and they tried to blame it on us, and as I can see from the previous reviewer who stayed there before us it was broken then. The outside area is mostly mud with seed, not as advertised, and the cement pad was caked with mud and the grill was dirty. We had to clean both .If you rent here, expect to have to clean when you arrive and get blamed for anything you report to them. The owners even tried to blame us for a gauge on the laundry room wall that we did not do. They kept $250 of our deposit, and let me tell you we left that place a lot cleaner and nicer than it was when we got there. I have filed a formal complaint against them with VRBO, they deserve it.

My family had a wonderful stay at this property. It was a beautiful location with every amenity available. Because the river was so high it did make the dock a challenge, however Jerry had set up barrels so were were still able to dock and use or boat. The fishing was great!!! If your family is looking for a place everyone can be together this was an excellent set up with plenty of space. We would recommend it. Our family has been renting summer homes in The 1,000 islands for the past ten years in a row and have had a lot of experience with different rental properties. Just highly recommend if you stay here to purchase property damage insurance, especially if traveling with young children.

Beautiful home right on the river, great spot! We were 6 adults with 4 kids. We went 4 days without the gas grill working, called owners about it not working right away, first they told us to turn it on and it would heat up, like we didn’t know how to run a gas grill. It was filthy, clogged and regulator wasn’t working properly. Jerry wanted my son in law to fix it! He was uncomfortable doing that so finally someone who worked for their builder came on Tuesday, who was very nice, and replaced the regulator on Wednesday. Needless to say we could only use the gas grill 3 out of 8 days. We were charged for a ding in the hardwood floors by the downstairs patio doors that was there before us. They charged us $475! Make sure you look there and take pictures as soon as you arrive or you will be charged too! When you read past reviews you will see that one year every renter was charged for the same broken air hockey table, thank goodness that is gone!

The house lives up to the pictures! Very Spacious, very modern. Scenic views of the river. This house is great for both families or getting a group of friends together as we did. Looking forward to coming back in the summer!

Great set up for family interacting we have been going to Canada for years and had to come up with a substitution this year. Everyone was expecting to be a bit disappointed. Everyone had a blast making new memories ina great place.

Overall, the property was clean and very well kept. The location was easy to find and not too far away from local conveniences. Enjoyed the time on the water and time with my family!
